Thanks Floppy.. hard decision to make. if cant get into this, will have to look for alternative again.. maybe should just stick to Gongshang and travel instead.
Punggol is an extremely young estate, and Mee Toh / Horizon are both popular with the residents. There are at least 2 or 3 other schools within the same 1km radius. If you don't ballot for these 2 schools, the likelihood of a successful transfer is very low because all your neighbours you meet are either eyeing the schools or seeking a transfer.Sazaethh\" post_id=\"1911795\" time=\"1558680009\" user_id=\"147451:
We have exercised OTP for a resale in Punggol. Both Horizon and Mee Toh are within 1km.
We have the option for 2A1 at Gongshang Primary. Thinking if should forgo 2A1 or ballot for 2C for MeeToh/Horizon. What are the chances or should just go ahead with Gongshang?
Is there a possibility to request for transfer after the P1 registration exercise? -

You are right. It’s weird. There are some other schools having such numbers too.
200 is weird. Every other schools' intake is in multiples of 30 because that's the size of a P1 class. Shouldn't their intake be 210 or 180?floppy\" post_id=\"1911762\" time=\"1558668989\" user_id=\"97579:

Take note that their in-take has been reduced to 200 in stead of 240.
https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies[/quote]Yah man. Quite a number of schools not in multiples of 30, and got quite a few schools even go down to the single digit e.g. Pei Hwa's 224 vacancies and St Margaret's 192 vacancies.
Is there something going on at these schools? In Temasek (and a few other), are they looking at 25 students per class? -

Mee Toh and Horizon are guaranteed to go into balloting, and you can't go back to Gongshang if you choose to withdraw and participate in their balloting at Phase 2C.

TBH, not that hard a decision. There are still Oasis, Waterway, Punggol View and a few other options. -
Hi all…am staying in Punggol. Only within 1-2km from nan chiau( preferred sch). Wife’s primary school alumni is Hong Wen school. Not sure if should try balloting for nan chiau under the 1-2km category(which I think will be very over subscribed) or just go for Hong Wen.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!! -
Hi Everyone
I am a newbie here and have spent a long time reading through most of the posts discussing choices of school and the process on this forum.
Thank you to each and everyone for the information shared. Very helpful indeed.
My son will be going for P1 2020 intake and we are considering TKPS or Cedar Primary for him.
We are Singaporean PR and want a balanced co-ed school for him.
Will be very grateful for any advice from the experts
TKPS Questions:
1) I believe the school will move to the old / newly furbished campus in Jan 2020. Is this still the plan or will 2020 P1 children go to the current campus?
2) We are not in the Marine Parade GRC and wondering what are the chances for us in P2C?
3) What is the general reputation for this school - academically and CCA wise?
4) Is the student ratio a true mix of nationalities and backgrounds as their website suggests?
Cedar Primary Questions:
1) I believe the school is meant to merge with MacPherson Primary this year. Has that happened or will it take place in 2020?
2) We live in the Bendemeer area and come in the 1 - 2 km radius for this school and wondering what are the chances for us in P2C?
3) What is the general reputation for this school - academically and CCA wise?
4) What is the student ratio like?
Thank you so much in advance!

Unless you are registering in Phase 2B or earlier, any discussion for NCPS is meaningless as it ballots < 1km in Phase 2C. Your only real option is Hong Wen or another school. You have to consider the logistics getting to / fro Hong Wen va getting another school in Punggol.

You are almost guaranteed a place for Phase 2A1 or 2A2. You will have to decide whether it’s worth the journey every day.

Yeah…Thats the dilemma I have…not sure if it is worthwhile to choose Hong Wen compared to the within 1km schools like Punggol green, Punggol view and Rivervale primary. Headache.

Ask yourself, did HWS do a good job teaching your wife? Did she enjoy the culture over there? How did she fare for her PSLE and was that due to the teachers’ help (or lack thereof)??
