Typically >75% but the interviewers will also take into account the following:
1) English and Literature results
2) HAST test taken on 15 May (if applicable)
3) Sec 1 and PSLE results
4) CCA, VIA and other worthy contributions
5) Form/PCT/Subject Teachers’ feedback

Best to apply for DSA only with appropriate skill-set. Does he have anything else that might be sufficient?

really untrue... you can get low to borderline 70s and make get accepted into ip, or get high 80s and not make it... it all matters based on the other aspects of the criteria like teachers recommendation and the interview, and your commitment in CCAS. it all just matters if the school feels that your son is suited for the IP program because grades are definitely not everything(I know from experience)
About 85% across the board.ksraja69\" post_id=\"1911812\" time=\"1558684033\" user_id=\"136856:

there is still the ACS class though (Accelerated class for science) and the SBGE class (IP equivelant of GEP for yr 3&4). but these only matter based on your y1-2 results and not those from before. SBGE classes are for those who have performed well in their y1-2, and are invited into these classes by the school.the ACS class if for students who have an aptitude for sciences and math, and require a test to enter th ACS class at the end of y2. in this class, you do learn more, with some content being taught from the IBDP textbook. they have their own paper that they sit for other than the conventional MYE or FYE or coursework (Unlike the SBGE classes which has the same exams as the rest of the cohort). these ACS papers (i think? pretty sure) do not count towards their overall grades, but are still exam papers they have to sit for. other than for participating in those science quizzes, the ACS classes' paper will allow them easier entry into choosing a science to sit for in IB (needing again, i think a merit to enter into a HL science, unlike normal people who have to sit for an entrance test). other than that , the 'GEP' classes are more or less the same as other subjects, just with them performing slightly better overall.
All IP classes same pace. They don’t do extra projects just bcoz they were previously fr GEP. By the time they’re in Yr 5/6, each will be recognize by their own merits. No more GEP distinguishing.
but all IP and express classes are still good, so it really matters on what your preference is. -

There certainly are exceptions, as well as people who try to game the system.

Any news from ACSI in DSA applications? Heard they were making calls last week.

Dear all,
Now it’s time to select the subjects options for Y3, my DS is keen to have triple science and he just meets the requirement for triple science option (At least 225 overall for math, life science and physical science for triple science option, my DS got 227 ). but we were informed that the vacancies for each combination is limited.
We’d like to know whether triple science option is very popular and my DS could miss the opportunity even he meets the requirement.
And how many triple science class are there in Y3 ?
Thanks in advance! -

No harm trying if he hv the interests. IT IS gonna be very competitive. He’s got 3 choices, so best put in serious thot what he’ll do best for 2nd & 3rd choices based on his strength. Relook which are the subjects he does well everybterm since Year 1.

The triple science option is less popular than it used to be simply because it isn't as important as it used to be. The IB and A-levels are now designed to have Chemistry as a core science and one other at most. Even admission to Medicine courses now permits Chemistry + one other science.

Esteema is right to say that if your DS has the interests, why not try. However, remember that one extra science means one less of something else—whether it is more time, another useful subject, etc. When we designed the course, we took those trends into account—for example, unless you're going to be a radiologist (or have some other technical component like that), you won't need physics to be a doctor. It may be true that doing fewer subjects cuts down your options, but that's generally only true these days for engineering.
In every batch, there is a minimum of 6 triple-science classes, I think. I also think there should be fewer.

DS is also looking at triple science. He likes and does well in life sciences but has been advised by many of his seniors not to choose Bio + Geog/Hist combo since Bio as well as Hist & Geog are very content heavy.
That effectively leaves only triple sci that has Bio if he were to consider their advise.
Now he is mulling over if he should put chem/phy/hist and chem/phy/geog as his other 2 choices or should he still put Chem/bio/hist as his 2nd choice.
