If it makes you feel better, listen to the words of wisdom of our former Min for Education, current DPM and future PM: \"Every school, a good school.\"
Sigh. Every school may be good, but if your closest school is a super popular school like Henry Park, it's back to the drawing board.

That was my hubby’s alma mater. He die die also don’t want to send his dear son there. Nuff said ya?
I don’t think the school culture has changed much. Bad influences especially at upper primary level my DH picked up smoking & was coerced into gangs (and I mean real adult gangs, not kiddy friend-friend cliques ah). He was saved by external forces. Please ask around for more opinions if you like.[/quote]
        :yikes:
That was in the 70s? Upper primary and so brazen?

Late 80s. Outside school compound so outside school’s jurisdiction. More likely it boils down to lack of parental supervision. But such is the background of the kids there.

            Hi dear fellow parents,

may I ask whether the ‘sister school’ has some priority for admitting siblings?

For example, a Son in Catholic High and does Sister get in some sort of preference into CH’s Sister school (St Nicholas)?

            Thanks!

Ahhhh… so anyone with a boy in boy school, where would you send your girl (if no old girl affiliation for mommy)?

Any school that you can get into.

You would have to weigh the pros / cons of such a split and you would need to devise a plan for your girl if you opt for a boy school.

I’m an alumnus of my old girls school but even if I’m not, I will still choose to place my kids (a boy and a girl) in separate schools. There’s quite a number of girls school which you can choose from, provided logistics is not an issue for you (even if it’s far from your son’s school)

If you could tell us roughly which area you live, we can help advise you on the girls schools that you will have a chance in. Eg it’s pointless if I suggest a Canossan girl’s school in the East if you live in CCK...

                        All points much appreciated @floppy

I have been studying balloting history since I joined this forum and yes you are right about not taking a chance with a school that traditionally goes to the ballot.
So indeed the decision weighs heavy.

                        Thanks again.

I will buy that, but not the white paper. Last time DDs went to Keming due to closest distance, nothing else to consider. Environment is suppose to toughen kids, how to not let others step onto own brand new white school shoes?
