My girls were also weak in languages. While I outsource Chinese (cos I realise my own teachings do not help), I coach my kids in EL using online resources. In the interest of time and to maximise results, I often target grammar rules, synthesis rules and drill into their heads since P4 and build more complicated grammar rules/nuances from there. Vocal is a black box, you don’t know what will come out in exams but surely grammar/compre close can be aced by having strong grammar knowledge. For compo, I am grateful the sch tchr provided lots of past students model compo for them to read.

      Hope this helps.

Suggest strengthen S&T and grammar sections. These two are rule-based and can be mastered within a very short period of time.

          Tigger18,

Personally, I’ll look at my kid’s results, if 65 and below I’ll work on foundations.

Get specific books that has rules and examples and repeated drills

          Booklet A
          1. Grammer mcq
          2. Vocab mcq
          3. CLoze passage mcq

          Booklet B
          1. Grammar cloze
          2. Editing & Spelling
          3. S&T

These components have the most rules to learn. Get your tutor to teach specifically, drill and review.

No point of doing countless papers if he or she is not aware of why she is making the mistakes.

            Agree with this.

Can try below book if want to target on synthesis & transformation component. Have other components as well but only bought this n editing for DC.

Yes, MyPillow. This revised weightage came into effect in 2017.
