Hi KiddyLow,
Hi Sweetbaby
His CW is hovering around 24 marks.
My boy too was around 24. Just analyse his timed written compo for his biggest area for improvement. For my kid, tuned out his plot is weak, so we worked a lot on planning. By the next exam, he was able to raise by 6-8 marks. I'm not saying that its fantastic, but at least the plot is more decent

Thanks, sweetbaby.
Can you share more on how you guide him on planning? -
Outside now cant chk the marks…think dd’s also around there…should be weak in spelling/grammar… dd dont like to practise writing compo at home and I ‘easily’ let her be…so let her read the compo answer key, hope better than nothing…

Dear MrsKiasu
My DS also finds it a chore to practice at home. Sigh. -

We used a planning sheet on weekends. You can use any like those given by school teacher or you can get free or buy from online. Basically, forcing him to think thru the question and plan each component. We also follow tips given by members in this thread and put the time and effort. At first was really hard, the kid was really resistant and literally drag the work the whole day. :spank: -
oh bingo 24.5
so we are not alone! this hol I thought I really wanted dd to start writing but later on I notice that I may make her 'sian' on days she needs to write..so just let her be .. -
Being creative is an artistic skill. You either have it or you don’t. The mechanics of creativity can probably be assimilated (eg. write like a famous author, or use good English), but the imagery cannot be copied.

That’s why there’s a world of difference between the Harry Potter books vs the Geronimo Stilton books. But then again, for PSLE purposes, parents just want to get at least a passable level like GS, no need for everyone to write so deep & flowery like Commonwealth essay competition winner or so bestseller creative like HP mah.
