I agree with dunma. Your DS can just take this as another MO test. If he is keen, he can prepare like what he did for SMOPS and RIPMWC. IMHO, NMOS is probably less useful as it's P5.dunma\" post_id=\"1917022\" time=\"1562116721\" user_id=\"123639:
Math Olympiad type. Mcq and short questions. Did your son participate nmos, smops, ripmwc? Quite the same. If your son get gold in nmos / platinum in smops / (high) distinction in ripmwc, should be no problem.

I am new here and first time seeking for advice. My child is short-listed into RI and it required a math test soon. We parents have no idea what to prepare for the test ? My child do not have extra math tuition besides school lessons so appreciate if someone went through RI math test before can advise me what area/format/type of questions maybe we can practice on? If fail the test mean will be opted-out from RI correct? :scared:
Thank you.
Note that school may change the format from year to year.[/quote]Dear coast and dunma,
Thank you very much for your reply.

Hi
My son is shortlisted for the DSA English selection test on Sat. It says 2 papers in 2.5h with short break. May I know what would the format be like? Creative essay and SAT style vocab/compre? Or maybe 2 essays? Feeling rather overwhelmed!
Please PM or post if anyone can share! Really appreciate any help :please: -
FYI, 2 years ago, all DSA academic applicants took the round 1 test. This year, 60% more applicants according to moe, don’t know their arrangements.

You may google SMOPS and RIPMWC past year papers to let your son get familiar with its question type. Not very difficult, maybe a bit more than round 1. But time is tight, my son didn't finish all questions in the test.

Don't worry. Majority of the boys entered RI via PSLE. Majority of the RI boys do not take part in Math Olympiad.
DSA has changed quite a bit compared to the past (e.g., quota from 50% to 30-35%), centralised portal this year, no GAT, ... so perhaps the selection policy and test may be different as well. Just ask your DS to treat it as another Maths test and do his best. All the best to your DS! -
My boy now year 1 at RI, was GEP student. Academic standard dropped at RI.
At pri sch he was stretched, but at RI he is not. -

Thank you for your kind words , coast. I think I am more panic than my Son.... he is calm like a statue at the moment I tell him we received short-listed notification from RI and another top school. Now, thanks to your reply at least I know where to start for preparing some practice for him.
