Alternative electricity company

ngl2010:
Anybody using alternative electricity company like Tuas Power, Senoko Energy, Red Dot Power, etc? Are they cheaper than SP?
With the soft launch of Open Electricity Market from 1 April 2018, households and businesses in Jurong can choose to buy electricity from a retailer with a price plan that best meets their needs. This would involve consumers whose premises have postal codes starting with 60, 61, 62, 63 or 64.
You still have the Jurong apt? -
I am staying in Jurong, and have switched to Open Market Electricity retailer
oh yes, definitely cheaper. Has anyone else also switched? -
I am still considering but yet to do research cos it is like so many of them!

Interesting to read on the electricity retailer..do they include water as well? Which is the one you all using..need to be like in 2 yrs contract(?) when I roughly went through the other time..
MKS, I will answer your questions other than the water question here.
There are no contract, 6 months contract, 12 months contract and 24 months contract plans.
For no contract, it is too complicated for me to decipher
TL;DR on the T&C. If I remember correctly, it is the wholesale electricity price plus something plus something plus something...... :scratchhead:
For the 6, 12, 24 months, you can choose Fixed Rate or Discount Off the Regulated Tariff (regulated tariff = SP rate).
If you think the price of electricity will go up in the future, then choose Fixed Rate.
If you are risk averse, then choose the Discount Off the Regulated Tariff plan because it is like paying SP rate but cheaper. You will definitely save money with this plan compared to staying with SP.
At this moment, the cheapest Fixed Rate is iSwitch at 17.66 cents/kWh. However, there is a monthly service fee of $4.95 for all iSwitch price plans so you need to take that into account. The next cheapest will be Senoko at 17.95 cents/kWh and a lot of players at 17.98 cents/kWh.
The biggest Discount Off the Regulated Tariff is currently given by Ohm at 25%.
I am currently with Ohm for their Fixed Rate. I signed up for 2 years contract. My reason for signing with Ohm:
1. Can terminate without penalty within 3 months if I change my mind.
2. integrated billing with SP so I won't receive separate bill and I don't have to make separate payment. I also don't have to make additional security deposit.
3. Competitive price.
I hope I don't confuse you
