Hi, for my dd's school, no need to come to school earlier for self study . But ever heard maths teacher told students that they can reach sch earlier at 7am to consult her cos she reaches sch early. But it's up to the kids. So far dd doesn't do so cos would prefer her to have more slp.
Hi, like to have a general check how other schools drill their P6 students for their psle.
My child starts school as early as 7.10am for an early self study session thou not compulsory but then sometimes the teachers do go thru some work during this session. After that is the normal school hours till 2.10pm. Then they have 1.5 hours supplementary for each subject from Monday to Thursday. By the time they reach home is 4pm+,with 1 to 3
homework to complete, sometime to hand in the next day, sometime 2 days.
Is the above normal for P6 students in other schools?
My dd stays back 3 times a week for supp classes too. Each day ard 2 hrs. 2 subjects per day. Ends at ard 430pm.
Ya also have around the same hw load as yr child after supp classes.
Dd has been feeling very tired since term 3 started. Everyday tells me she is very tired...She told me she doesnt even have the energy to laugh / smile now. They are doing papers after papers in school, I believe same as most schools. Can see she is more moody these days and cries more easily. Used to be jovial. Told her to hang in there as it's just 2 more mths to PSLE. After that is freedom..... -
our side supp class only 1hr /lesson except for hmt less than 2hr (guess they combine CL). I do hope the school give them paper after paper lor. on days with supp class, dd sometimes say no hw. hw I dont think is heavy. sleep wise definitely deprived..weekend let her sleep..used to let her sleep sometimes till 11am..but recently try not to as if not she has more energy to sleep less during weekdays. stress dont think that much..she been calming down, speak more softly and patiently with meimei..could feel she is trying to enjoy recess/lunch together with meimei whenever possible.
to add..after psle is library trips..simple request
also I find them having quite fun with some art lessons? .keep searching things at home to bring to school for the group work.. -
Very simple requests indeed! my dd sure wanna get away from the sight of books after PSLE. Told her after PSLE she can dump all her worksheets and assessment books into the recycling bin. DH super happy when heard that cos he said house is so messy with books stacking up. Dining table is no longer a dining table ...

err...U don't call this an achievement...
it's mummy's previous \"hobby\" of going popular to buy n buy and many are left untouched too, hence the accumulation. I've banned myself from buying books already. Secondly, it just shows mummy has not been doing a gd job packing the house... :siam: -

I can only share for my child's school only. No morning study session. School hours as per normal. He has only one Supplementary a week. Homework manageable, maybe slightly more for some Fridays/weekends. He still have time for his personal activities.

Dear parents,
Can anyone recommend any head-start / preparatory program for P6 syllabus for P5 children which you had sent your children to last year or early this year ? I am not talking about normal tuition lessons but like a holiday camp sort of thing held over a few days / weeks.
My child is in P5 now and looking to use the DEC 2019 holidays to enroll for some head start program.
And best wishes to you and your children for the upcoming PSLE

Sounds good. Does this applies only to yr dc's class or whole level be it strong or weaker students also just stay back once a week? for my school, the whole level needs to stay back but weaker students for certain subjects might have to stay back an extra hr on another day for remedial on top of supp classes.

I think my school is stepping up after seeing their cohort's less than ideal results during their recent SA1. Used to be super relax in P5 . P6 term 1 and 2, stayed back twice a week instead of almost everyday like now. Nowadays also have some talks so need to stay back too... -
tryourbest, your dd is lucky that school is stepping up its efforts this yearβ¦our side, after sa1 result, seems there is some small movements in the supp class. Also I remember there will be targeted remedial/supp class for certain students later on if I m not wrong.
