The policy change is okay to close up the loopholes if one is out to make use of the loopholes. But then there are 2 groups of children which I felt needed to be tweak because it is not entirely their fault. The system should not fault them. No…not because they don’t like MTL hor.

There is a controversial NTU freshmen orientation cheer circulating around. Sorry I burst out laughing when I played the video but DH gave me a very face palm look.

\"Can do\" or not really depends on the situation. I don't want to get into arguments, but for some families, it can be very hard to teach MTL overseas. Parents may not know enough, it may not be possible to get tutors (not everyone goes to big cities with Chinese populations, and even within China, it's not always possible to get tutors to teach standard Mandarin in rural areas), it may cost too much to pay tutors (not everyone is on expat pay), kids may have enough trouble adjusting back to Singapore and catching up in 3 subjects...

Yes, it's true that the MTL exemption may have been overused by some, but my personal view is that the policy may have swung a bit too far in the other direction for some situations. Anyway, as I said, I don't want to argue over this, which is why I am not replying on the other thread. -

I felt quite sorry for u in the other thread but all’s well now, thanks to SMC!
I quite like the little French eatery/restaurant opened by the Savuer Group at the shophouses next to Cathay Cinema there(sorry forgot the restaurant name). They have like 3-4 course French cuisine less than $100 for 2 and portions are small. Restaurant is small and not crowded the last I went. I liked the ambience and the food.
As for the the other thread, I was so busy that day that I didn't login till later at night and didn't see what was originally said, though I guessed as much that I might have been singled out. What to do when people get angry? I'll just let things simmer down. -

We don't usually eat at restaurants either. But this is a special occasion (wedding anniversary yesterday). In the end, we're feeling too lazy to go further or try a new place, so we'll probably just go to a sushi place nearby. Our main purpose is to just chill and talk anyway, not the food.

If food is not important, you can consider Hoshino Coffee at ion. The mains are mediocre but the booths make it a good place for sitting and talking. The hot fruit tea is recommended.
Lobby Lounge at shangrila has a lovely atmosphere especially when there is a jazz singer but be warned that the menu is limited and food may be disappointing to locals.
If food is important, sun with moon at wheelock can be lovely if you get the tables near the window. The bill depends on what you order but the food and service are usually quite good.
Do call ahead to see if you can make reservations for Friday and weekends. -
