After receiving sms result from MOE, we still not yet get any letter or email from school/MOE about admission.
sms only mention about orientation at school.
Any other steps need to go through.
First time experience registration P1

Hi all, my name is Michael. I’m a anxious first time parent whose daughter is entering K1 next year. I’ve been reading some of the forum posts about the primary 1 registration and I have a question which I would like to ask the seasoned parents around here.
1. I was from Fairfield Methodist School but I have not signed up for the Alumni. When should I do so to be eligible for the Phase 2B?
2. If I do not register my child for phase 2B at Fairfield, and did not manage to get a slot at a preferred school at phase 2B2, will I still have priority in phase 2C for my child if I register at Fairfield?
Thank you so much. -

If you are from Fairfield Methodist Primary, you are eligible for 2A1(Alumni), or 2A2(non).

2B will not be same criteria, and 2C will be open to public base on distance.

I wonder how MOE/school allocate students to class. Students get the place (through class 1 to 7/8) depends on which criteria ? Is it registration number or DOB?

It's really up to the school. I don't think they will reveal much.

Possible consideration - nationality, race, sex for co-ed school to encourage healthy mix of pupils in each class.

Those are all factors the school take into consideration when assigning students to their class. Also, if there are special needs, school will not assign too many to a class.

Thanks Davis. What I meant was that as I stay quite far from Fairfield, it is not my first choice. I am trying to see if I can get her into Hong Wen which is nearer to me but I’m only slightly out of the 2km radius. I’ve applied to do volunteering work for the school and am waiting for their reply.
I guess what I am trying to ask is since Hong Wen application will be under phase 2B, should I be unsuccessful in getting a slot, would I still be able to get my child in to Fairfield based on Alumni/ex-student? -

My advice is Hong Wen >2km for 2B not guaranteed and 2C, no chance. Same goes to Fairfield, no chance for 2B and 2C. Best is 2A1/2 Fairfield, further but worth. Unless you have <1km school to consider.

If fail 2B, then go 2C is not for Alumni, it is for public.
You might also want to consider St. Margaret’s or CHIJ Kellock, if you are nearer to central. -

Phase 1 > Phase 2A1 > Phase 2A2 > Phase 2B > Phase 2C > Phase 2CS

If you miss out on HWS in Phase 2B, you can also kiss FMS goodbye. You can turn back the clock to Phase 2A1 / 2A2.
The good news is FMS never had to ballot in Phase 2A1 / 2A2. Therefore, you can register and secure your place first, before deciding whether to withdraw and re-apply in HWS in Phase 2B. However, all these talk are just putting the cart before the horse. You need to be accepted as PV in HWS first!
