Hi everyone, i just want to share my personal experience engaging helper at agency. I have hired my helper through CONNEXUS EMPLOYMENT HUB , located at Katong shopping centre.
At first , im afraid hire filipino coz a lot of bad feedback from my colleague , like difficult control, demanding, HP problem…etc. I seek for my maid agency for help to look for helper, my agent has explain to me the 3 different nationality helper ( indonesian , filipino and myanmar).
After speak with my agent, im still prefer to hire filipino to work for my family. My current filipino helper work for me almost 6 months. My Filipino helper is very good, helpful and polite. I think it’s not about the nationality when hiring a helper… if that person has a good track record on her previous work it still not a guarantee she will be good by the time she’s with you. I had a bad experience with hiring a maid from an agency… but if you have an agent who knows how to read people and can give you the most suitable helper that would be a great help.

Recently early this year, went to the Nation Maid agency to employ a Filipino domestic helper. The service representative name Lywin simply just show me a couple of bio-data and ask me to choose from the given choices. As a first time employer, I was then told by other friends that the agency is suppose to advise you to have at least a long distance call with the helper to test her communication skills. Never have she initiated to do that. True enough when the maid arrived , I had a challenging time to have a conversation with her , had to use all sign languages which is really frustrating.
Not just that , Lywin did not even bother following up or even during the pre-arrival , not a single call from her to guide me through the emails sent to me. I was totally clueless. Even when I have approached the agency to bring the helper back home, her colleague had to fill me in with more details that she has left out.
My expectation for her after service was to at least to give me a call to follow up. Not a single call and when I called to ask about the bank opening account which I have submitted for ,I have to call a 2nd time for her to tell me that I had to follow up on my own!!! What is this !
Going into their online portal , I realise they have only allow comments that has given 5 stars.PLEASE DO NOT BE CON BY THE COMMENTS ON THEIR NATION WEBSITE !!! THEIR COMMISSION IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST YET GIVEN SUCH LOUSY SERVICE , I HAVE TOTALLY REGRETTED !!! -
Bad Experience: Nation Tampines Branch
(My 1st time hire FDW)
In July 19, I engaged Nation and selected an Myanmar fresh FDW from them.
The FDW initially agreed to take care kids, cooking and do household yet she was not performing her job without supervision. She don’t even cook dinner for my kids if I come home late. The last 2 days she worked she only cook instant noodles as my kid’s dinner which was after I rang home and discovered she was not cooking and left my kid staving. The next 2 days drama show started, she claimed that she wanna left because she cannot take care kids. What a lame excuse!
Since day 1 till the day The Maid insisted to go back Nation (about after 3 weeks), Zhun zhun few days after she was brought to issue thumbprint by Nation agent. they never handover FDW’s passport Nor WP to me throughout the period as if they knew it is unnecessary.
As at today, The Maid still parked under my name and address under MOM record now even she has went back to Nation 2 weeks.
When I requested salary in lieu due to FWD immediate termination, the agent initially claimed that MOM rule not allowed employer to do so. Change their statement can refund salary in lieu after I showed them MOM reply email. And, change their statement again asked me go civil court their agency not responsible for salary in lieu when I went Nation to select replacement maid today.
I was initially happy to engage Nation and planned to train and get a ready maid before my newborn come in Sep. Yet, it is mid August now. FDW gone after 3 weeks, delay replacement maid for me (last month still claimed that I should quickly get a maid don’t overtired but actually it is the APS Maid gonna expiring without employer).
now, my EDD is due after 3 weeks and I don’t even know when I can clear all these shits. Most unfair thing is I still have to fork out a sum of money for new FDW even the fault is totally not on me and my family!! Felt cheated!! -
I did everything possible to bring him back but all was in vain, I wanted him back so much because of the love I have for him, I begged him with everything, I made promises but he refused. I usually give them a small increment just to reward and motivate them. If your maid demands you to match the market salary of their friends, to me that is a warning sign already.
