Prelims ended today. Looking back, think we spent too much time on orals, but don’t think turn out much better than if we had spent less time on it. On the other hand, feel so unprepared for prelims, especially for science.. could not finish going through the past mistakes also. Feeling apprehensive how the results would come back to be like. I Guess kid also feeling stressed out, and sometimes throw tantrums and refuse to go through the mill anymore...even ask me, why one exam can determine where they go for the next 4 years (Guess this is what the school teacher has been telling them)

On one hand, wish it can be over faster.. on the other hand, wish we had more time to prepare

Precisely why is there a NATIONAL exam for 12 years old? Many 12 years old are not even mature enough yet. But where they will spend their important formative teen years where peer influence is so important will be determined just on 1 exam at the young age of 12.

Many countries do away with such national exams at 12 years old as it really does not make sense. But we are stuck here so no choice have to follow and the average children suffer.

I think that its actually good to have an exam. Its like a milestone check.
However, people put too much emphasize on it. Pri n sec sch is only a small part of our lives, n tho it affects the rest of our lives, it doesnt mean that gd sch children there happier n more sucessful later on.
The reason children suffer at this time is because they r stressed, n they r stressed as people put emphasis on it. The people may be parents (hopefully u dont), peers, tchers, sch, or just how important they think it is.

can check with you all .. on normal school days how many papers can we slot in? and on school hol ho many? assuming min hw then.
U need to know ur child sch give how much hw usually. The amount sch give may vary.
But they usually dump hw during hols n the child need some time to relax so i think u shldnt give during sept hols.

FWIW, IKR = I know, right.

All these text internet acronyms... SMH. IDK, but WTH happen to proper sentences?
IMHO, we shouldn't be reading and trying to decipher at the same time.
BTT... good luck to the Prelims. FTW.
SCNR (and my internet acronyms probably CMI).
              NRN 😂

alamak, simi lai de....... u are making everyone confused!!!!!

Alamak. Must learn how to talk properly like this in order to fit in. Otherwise no one < 25yo understands you 😂

FWIW - For what it’s worth
              IKR - I know, right
SMH - Shake my head (although SMFH is often used for added emphasis as well)
              IDK - I don’t know
              WTH - What the hell
IMHO - In my humble opinion
              BTT - Back to topic
              FTW - For the win
SCNR - Sorry, could not resist
CMI - Cannot make it (uniquely Singapore)
              NRN - Need not reply
Some of the above are more commonly used overseas.[/quote]Wah i 12 also cannot understand

I feel our school kinda expect kids would be given papers by parents/tutors so they try not to burden the kids with alot more 🤷 ..just my feel la coz dd also like to escape hw.
