      soka:
So is there 1 class about 20 for sports, another 1 class for MEP, similar for AEP and the rest from academic through DSA, balance 50% through PSLE result.

How many vacancies are there available for DSA at RI this year?

        Hi ApronMama,

Total there are 225 vacancies. 150 are allocated to GEP students. 45 +/- are allocated for DSA Sport Talents. Balance goes to P6 mainstream pupils.

How are we sure 150 are for GEP? This is last year figure? Should there be more. There are altogether about 500+ GEP kids every years and the ratio of boys to girls is about 4:2 . So there are about 330+ boy every years and most of them will apply for DSA at RI ? No? Or rather they are likely to apply for RI, NUSH and HCI at the same time and most of them will get double offer at RI and HCI, am I right?

Therefore 112 is for sports DSA and others. If sports DSA = one class, say 30, then vacancies available for mainstream via DSA = 82

1 GEPer can 'chop' so many vacancies, then 300+ GEP boys ... :!:

No wonder mainstream pupils' DSA chances so jialat. 😒

Is this consider a loophole in the system :?

may be that is why they ask u to put them as first choice even when they offer u waiting list only[/quote]Waitlist is as good as waiting for your PSLE results. That's why when someone said mainstreamers got \"equal\" chance for DSA in top schools as Geppers, I do not think it is not really true. A lot of \"top' mainstreamers get into top school via their PSLE score, not DSA as those places are taken up mainly by Geppers.

Granted, there is always this argument of Geppers having a more rigorous P4-P6 with their enhanced and project-based curriculum. However, to determine if a child is gifted with just 1 P3 streaming exams and accord them the \"privilege\" is not exactly a fair system. I have seen so many truly gifted child being \"by-pass\" by this system, and the \"hothouse\" ones get the privilege.
