sorry eng ga lish not very good, what u mean by 'hothouse' ?Waitlist is as good as waiting for your PSLE results. That's why when someone said mainstreamers got \"equal\" chance for DSA in top schools as Geppers, I do not think it is not really true. A lot of \"top' mainstreamers get into top school via their PSLE score, not DSA as those places are taken up mainly by Geppers.
Granted, there is always this argument of Geppers having a more rigorous P4-P6 with their enhanced and project-based curriculum. However, to determine if a child is gifted with just 1 P3 streaming exams and accord them the \"privilege\" is not exactly a fair system. I have seen so many truly gifted child being \"by-pass\" by this system, and the \"hothouse\" ones get the privilege.

Hi,
During the open house last Sat (22/5), the principle, Mrs Lim mentioned that over the last few years, RI has taken about 150 GEPPERS through DSA out of the 225 places. I have spoken to the person in charge of DSA through Sport talent, he mentioned that RI will take in 45 +/- sport talent pupils. Out of these 45 sport pupils, RI will distribute them based on PSLE score. Should the pupils score able to meet the COP of RI, the pupils will be joining the rest of the mainstream pupils. The rest of the sport talent will be put under one class.
From the above situation, the balance of about 30 places will be given to mainstream pupils. -

I thought I heard it is 2/3 of the GEP cohort of each year, hence RI has the largest SBGEHi,

DSA for GEP is limited to 50% of the 225, while at S1 posting based on merits, more GEPper may come in, hence the overall GEP cohort is more than half of RI's yearly intake
I may have heard wrongly last Saturday, but from previous personal communication with Mrs Lim, it is stated 50% of RI places are for DSA and up to half of which is for GEP, while the balance of the 50% is for mainstream academic and sports talent.
anyway . . . . . . . -
2/3(300+)of GEP cohort is quite equivilant to the total number of boys geppers in the cohort as they take up about 2/3 of the cohort each year if not wrong..so I think is more reasonable to say about 150 go RI thru DSA while the rest go other IP school or go in RI thru PSLE results. Just wonder the 150 geppers are selected due to past yrs results or by interview? :?
-
should a student disclose in the interview (if asked), that he has been shortlisted by a competitor school in the DSA exercise ?

if the school follows strictly what they say, 50% of 50% of yearly intake is for GEP via DSA, it will be capped at 113. (50% x 50% x 450)
vlim, u got pm
