Meal prep day. Again mainly fo my mafan DS.
Helper still has not fully grasped our dietry preferences even though she is capable of cooking. Told her many times that DS needs meat as in pork, chicken, beef, kinda meat and he is allergic to shellfish and squid. But she can still cook a shrimp or egg dish and consider that meat or add shrimps to the veg which means DS cannot eat them. -
I shouldn’t be posting this under ME TIME…but since the issue of myopia is mentioned, I thought maybe I should alert you on high chances of retina detachment for those with degree of short sightedness. hubby has high degree of myopia and experienced retina detachment twice. please look after kids’ eyes.

we didnt cook today…dd requested to go out and eat …after that dabao fried fritters…later at home I just cook noodles/eggs.
on a separate occasion, both dds say no to tuition…hmm the younger one got to continue I guess…the elder one thinks she can skip chi tuition next year…so signed form to request for refund of deposit…I hope it is ok for Sec 1 to relax a bit. -
Elder sis had retina detachment. Her myopia is 1000+ each eye. Younger sis was assessed as unsuitable for lasik also due to high myopia, hers is also almost 1000 each eye. Dad was told not to do his cataract op for his left eye due to increased risk of retina detachment. His myopia is also very high since his younger days.

I u’stand that cataract once “ripe” shld go for op owise leaving it too late can go blind. So, in the case of risk of retina detachment & doc not advise to do cataract op, does it mean it’s choice btwn retina detachment or going blind eventually? Wldn’t cataract op more urgently req’d & handle retina detachment operation as option layer once risk is there? Just asking coz I’ve early cataract now.

we been to suzhou for day trips kinda thing..10 years back I still can hop into old shops selling beancurd with youtiao when the weather was too cold then, which I really enjoyed..but like dont really see those old structures/gardens I had expected to see..now I guess will be more like modern city with big shopping ctrs? which I really not interested in..I must admit I didnt google on the targeted places to go.. I was hoping to research about Hangzhou this afternoon, but there's still time. We booked flights and hotel yesterday, so now my job is to figure out what to do during our 3 days. So, now I need to drill down to specifics - what would be the recommendations for the top things to do/see? Is it worth going to Suzhou on a day trip? We're more into history and scenery, less into food and shopping.
Suzhou has several Tang->Qing gardens (all UNESCO WHS). It's like Kyoto, but maybe restoration-wise isn't as good as Kyoto because a lot of gardens were damaged during the Cultural Revolution, so the conservationists need a longer time and more funds to restore them to their former glory.
At most you can cover: Humble Administrator's Garden (UNESCO), Suzhou Museum next door (designed by I M Pei) and Lion Grove Garden opposite the road (I M Pei's ancestral property), plus the pedestrianised shopping street. You won't have time to visit Taihu lake, Tiger Hill (Leaning Pagoda), the Old Street district and several other Suzhou gardens like Lingering Garden and Master of Nets Garden (which has a replica in NYC's Metropolitan Museum).
Mrs Kiasu: Speaking of [i]youtiao[/I], I didn't know the story behind [I]youtiao[/I] until I visited Hangzhou Yue Fei Temple! For years, I had always thought 'yew zhar kuey' is a Singapore Hokkien name for [I]youtiao[/I]. Was surprised when the tour guide in Yue Fei Temple said '油炸鬼‘ in front of the statues of Yue Fei's traitors, Qin Gui/Hui and Wife. Only there and then did I learn that the 2 parallel dough-sticks symbolise the 2 'ghosts', and that 'ghost' (鬼）is a polyphone of Qin Gui/Hui (桧), the evil official, whom the locals wanted to deep-fry to eat whenever they thought of Yue Fei's death. -

hubby’s myopia was around 700-800 degrees. tired but refused to rest.
after retina detachment on right eye, cataract set in soon after as what the doctor said. then recommended him to go for lasik. 2nd time round, we knew the signs of retina detachment and headed to A&E asap.
there was also another patient with retina detachment on the same day. I pleaded with the doctor to have the operation asap.
