Compare RGS vs NYGH
-
phtthp:
NYGH is an independent school so school fees are $300+ regardless of whether you're in IP or O level. Similarly SCGS is an independent school and school fees are the same regardless of which route you take. Two questions, concerning SIP students
a)
For NYGH (independent school) pupils who had been identified by school to exit IP programme, got streamed into SIP-O-level (Structured IP) course, at the end of (Year 2 or Year 3) -
are they still paying $300+ school fees per month, or cheaper, since now studying an O-level course ?
b)
For NYGH SIP students -
after passing (clearing) GCE O-level exam, is there any special discount (privilege) of minus 2 points, if they want to go back to their Hwa Chong Junior College (A-level) ?
(above 2 questions, also apply to Hwa Chong, Y1 to Y4 IP students)
No affliation bonus points for JC. -
Hi,
Browsing between these 2 schools in the forum these few days is pretty eye opener. I can feel the contrast in terms of school culture, operations, management, teaching staff, students and even parents. -
The RGS name still remains so impressive but so is NYGH now. What I do like is that RGS girls seem to speak and carry themselves very confidently. But the RGS curriculum is soooooo different from any other IP school!!!

DD got CO for NYGH and RGS. MGS waitlisted her. Which school should she choose?

Which domain did your DD DSA in? These two schools are so different, I would have thought most will either like one or the other. My DD has got a couple of choices too, but nothing can persuade her not to choose RGS.

I know of someone who got a CO from NYGH , she applied for both RGS and NYGH. Her DD prefers RGS, she tells her mum she actually prefers RGS but if she gives up on the CO and if doesn’t get in RGS, she loses both. headache too… She likes NYGH but has a little more preference over RGS. Think better to ask the kid first then deciding for her.

I was from RGS. My DD last year got CO from both NYGH and RGS. I really wanted her to go RGS but she chose NYGH in the end. Now in hindsight, I am really glad she had the maturity to choose the school that fits her best.
Both are very good schools. However, the culture, the curriculum emphasis, the values emphasis, all can be very different. You know your DD best, her character and the type of en environment she thrives best in. Help her to make the best choice. -
