      zbear:
      I am reviving this thread.

My 6.5 years old Panasonic fridge (bottom freezer) is dying on me despite getting it repaired. I now have impression that Panasonic is not really good. Or should I be happy that it can last 6.5 years? 😄

Can anyone recommend a durable brand? I only need basic features n no need a big one.

      Thanks.
My 2 Hitachi no frills fridge last at least 10 years. One still good going into 11th or 12th year. 2 doors, top freezer kind. Limited special technology or features kind.

my Fisher & Paykel only 4 years old, and failed running. to repair electric board cost $200. even the repair guy say this brand is good. My old samsung wash machine still working after 14 years. Well, i guess those years that fridge can last more than 10 years are gone. now electronics depends on luck.

just find those functions n feature u like, not super expensive will do. The rest leave it to unknown…

anyone have lobang to get cheap fridge?

All things now are researched and designed to fail. This is called ‘planned obsolescence’. Nothing will last for a certain number of years.

From Oven to Fridges, light bulbs (energy saving), scientific calculator, smartphones, tablets, etc…

Buy the size you need. Buy the fridge dimension where it fit nicely to your kitchen allocated space. Prices still can compare. Brand wise all have a planned failure time (like a time bomb) you never know what will give way or when you need to change.

I only know the olden days japanese brand like ‘National’ its fridge can last more than 25 years. Philips (Made in Holland) first energy saver light with balast built in can last more than 25 years. KDK fan very old model before 1960, can last 20 years.

Any applicances that contructed in year 2000 onwards all are built to look good but will fail (given a limited time frame) because of profits and gains.

My sharp fridge lasted ten years and still going strong. Bought the same fridge for my mum and mil and they are still doing ok too after 8 years.

we used Samsung twin door at our previous flat. it is huge. it died before we moved to our new place. the new fridge is also a Samsung. fridge on top, freezer below. BTO flats too small to own a big fridge.

My best bet is still Jap fridge

Mitsubishi, Hitachi - they can used for about 10yrs or more.- I am having both in our families
WM also - go for Jap brand -
TV - LG, samsung seem better than fridge n washing machine

Avanti is top quality brand. I used Avanti RA7316PST [https://fridgesreviews.com/avanti-ra7316pst-2-door-apartment-size-refrigerator-black-with-platinum-finish-2/] at my home it is a two door apartment size fridge .it has features like removal glass shelves., high temperature control capacity, transparent crisper with glass cover. It is best option for home, office use.
