for that question its 3.3 x 9.2 x 1/2 = 15.2
I think the average for math this time round may be quite low. Being an high A to low A* student, I really found a few of the questions hard. But many of the questions were a bit weird.
For example for questions 2,(paper 2) they asked to measure length and breath and find area. For some reason, many of the 93-97 scorers in my school could not understand that.
-

My DD wrote 1, 3, 2 (for above)
she said, it was mentioned that the passage was something like 'I was about to wipe the watery mess when I knocked over the bucket of paint'.
DD feel that the rag was already on the hand, thats why the passage mentioned 'about to wipe the watery mess'
The passage mentioned\"I was about to get hold of the rag\" to wipe the watery mess\" ..hence water mess came first, he went to get the rag but before he got hold of the rag, he hit knock over bucket of paint... thats DD version..not sure if she rem correctly... -

using ur ans $1.53 as original price, lets check the answer again now.
15%->6 egg tarts
100%->40 egg tarts
40+6= 46 egg tarts (ans a)
$61.20 / 40 = $1.53 (ans b)
Check:
If 1 egg tart is $1.53
40 egg tarts should get $61.20
If Jamie got 15% discount,
$61.20 x 15% = $9.18
This extra $9.18 was used to buy 6 more egg tarts. So if I take this extra money divide by the cost of 1 egg tarts, I should get 6 egg tarts:
$9.18 / $1.53 = 6 egg tarts
X has no discount but still spends $61.20, $61.2/$1.53 = 40 egg.
Jamie has a 15% discount and spends $61.20 as well,
price per egg after 15% discount = 1.53 x .85 = $1.3005
Number of eggs Jamie bought = 61.2/1.3005 = 47.0588235
This is not the answer.
The answer should be a) 40 b) 1.8.
Refer to image for the correct working and answer.
Hope this help.
Cheers.
