      Saw the past comments here.

As for maths paper, one of the parents said some students cried. I approached my son and asked him about the crying thing. He told me no one cried after maths paper but all his classmates had tried their best to finish up all the questions.
By the way my son is from neighborhood school in sengkang.

As for English paper, it was tricky but still managble. He mentioned that close passenge was not easy as the answers he wrote were not the usual words or common words for all the close passenges he had done.

As for chinese paper, he mentioned that some of his peers could not finish the pic compo because they were from english speaking family.

As for today’s science, it was easier than his school prelim.

For all those parents questioning the necessity for such ridiculously difficult questions on the maths paper - the simple answer is that it's to find the top, top students and separate them from the rest. Singaporean students are already the top in the world, if all the exams had the \"normal\" questions, there will be a large percentage who will do very well in the exams, and then there will be a large percentage of students who will do very well in their T-scores.
But since, PSLE is NOT a competition with yourself, but with others, the examiners will need these sort of questions to separate out the top, top from the top to the not quite top to the ok students.
As parents, we should tell our kids not to worry about these questions, to do what they can and move on - this is what I've told my kids - my DS got all these questions wrong, but he didn't cry over it - we know he's done his best and these questions would have been a struggle for him - maybe he'll understand it next year or in two years time or maybe never, but that's ok - move on and learn - focus on what you can do and what you know and do it to the best of your ability!
        :goodpost:

Also dont need everything come.to their rescue.

my child say its understandable there will always be a few tough questions if everything easy no need to work hard already...lol

Last year i told him to be prepared that this year papers would turn out to be tougher. Therefore he must get himself prepared. Last year super easy and many people could easily score above 200. And yes indeed, he told me papers were challenging. At least "outfront" he knew about it. And i explained to him tat if papers were set too easy then many would be able to "apply for better schools" but cut off points for schools would also mark up. I comfort him if he never do well for this year , don be dishearted. Just work harder for his olevels. In real working life, assignments given by bosses may not be easy , tight datelines and etc. . He must be able to adopt to such environment (先苦后甜) since young. So that he would be able to surive and handle stress well.

Moreover in my days teachers used to cane us for bad handwriting and exams which i felt was tough but no one complained to MOE or schools. Everyone of us still grew up so well.
