Curious, may I know if there is acceleration for computing studies? Ty

So far I have not come across any student who has accelerated in CS but quite a few students from Year 5 onwards are attending NUS modules every year.

The CS teachers are very proactive and CS is one subject where seniors are actively helping out in NOI and IOI trainings.

I will ask DC about the acceleration tonight.

In fact many of them are invited to do NUS modules starting Year 4.

Hi, matriculation for year 1s is on 19 December if I'm not wrong. The students will be welcomed and there will probably be briefing about NUS High's curriculum and also on Orientation. After that might meet form teacher and student leaders who will accompany the class during orientation. There will likely be phototaking as well for student ID. If you accept, it is best to email the school and see how they can arrange separately.

                  Hi,

I require some advice from parents of children who are enrolled in NUS high currently.

My child has a CO from both RI and NUS High. He has a keen interest in Computing other than Math and Science. He wants to go to NUS high. We were ok with his choice, as ultimately he is the one going through the rigours of the curriculum. With news now out that there is going to be a new principal, I want to know, if this changes anything - in terms of how the school will be led in future. I heard that the current principal Mrs Lee Bee Yan was very effective in her role and the school really flourished under her leadership.

This will help us in making a final decision.

                  Thanks

Not really too sure on the new principal, only met her once at Catholic High open house.

Seems a soft spoken lady. But i must say her speech is very dry....no \"joke\" type. Haha..

Current principal seems to be more of Maths & Science background as i read she was one of the top students in these subjects during her school days too.

Myrick88: Thanks for your inputs. I heard as well that the current principal was quite an accomplished student. In that sense , and what I heard from some parents about the school flourishing under her leadership,I felt she was apt to helm a specialised school such as NUS High.

Not to take away anything from the new principal.

Just that , we are now confused as to whether choose RI or NUS High. Amongst other things, the captain of the ship (aka principal) also matters (this is just my opinion).

Not taking away from the current principal, actually I felt the school flourished under the previous principal.
When the current principal came in, I was apprehensive too because she had big shoes to fill, but I think she has done well in general, and maintained or improved the standard.
I read that the new principal is a Rhodes Scholar from Oxford; so I suppose she is someone with substance too.
