Thanks for the clarification. Need to check with my DD again.
Btw, I thought Humanities & Social Sciences Research Programme (HSSRP) was offered to some of them in y2 ? Just curious if those students take this in y2, can they take it again in y3?
Odyssey of the Mind (OM) was also offered in y2 but not compulsory. Not sure about the rest though.

Oh yes, HSSRP is only through invites only in Sec 2. My Sec 2 dd just received invites for this program few days ago for her Sec 3's SIA. According to her, there was about 15-20 of them received this invites. Beginning of this year, she was selected in Sec 2 Humanities Talent Development Programme, which is under NYGH's Humanities Dept. Some students also took part in SIA projects in Sec 2 which was not compulsory (OM, WSC), just for exposure & get ready for Sec 3's compulsory SIA.

How well do they have to do to be selected for the Sec 2 Humanities Talent Development Programme?

My DD said that today all the sec 1 were encouraged to try for the CAP programme. Is it common for Sec 2 to take part in CAP? Or usually it is the Sec 3 who get selected?

        Really appreciate your advice.[/quote]Hi Swc,

I remembered the Invitation letter stated that dd was selected for her Sec 1 good academic results, MSG, & humanities subj. So I reckon preferably A1 for all subjects, MSG 1.00. Probably each cohort perform differently, so depends your dd's Sec 1's academic results.

School usually send all kinds of competition or any programme encourage the girls to sign up. My dd did not sign up for CAP last year. She was too lazy to prepare any portfolio during the holidays, and no creative inspiration mood after EYE....lol. . To answer your question: It is not common for Sec 2 to take part in CAP. I see WSC and Odyssey of the Minds, are more popular choice though.

But don't worry if your dd did not want to participate any programme at Sec 2, it is not compulsory anyway. On and off, your dd will receive emails from school encourage them to sign up. Sec 3 is compulsory to choose the preferred SIA. Some MOE Mentorship programme needs early sign-up. Coming to Sept/Oct, interested students (Humanities/Math/Science) need to prepare proposal & submit to department for approval. Academic results is one of the main criteria to meet! And need subject teachers for approval that you are eligible based on your results first. Then Only selected students and proposal approved by MOE will get to start their programme in Sec 3. Nevertheless, even did not get into any mentorship programme, students still can go for school-inhouse programme - such as Philosophy Inquiry, Spacemarker (hope I spell correctly....), etc..

I guess if put in hard work, to achieve MSG 1.00 for Sec 1 is possible. The school invite students with good academic results or which areas they are strong at for some programme to groom or stretch them further. Of course, students can reject to participate if they have no interest in the programme. Dd has some schoolmates who did not accept HSSRP, but join Science Mentorship Programme instead. Dd also have classmates who are strong in Chinese or Science, are asked to do some research at Sec 2 this year.

So at the end of the day, it depends on individual' s strength, interest and whether the students want to take on additional workload lo. The school also cannot invite any students just to join any programme who are not strong in particular subjects to groom, rite? Just like dd will never get any invitation for Maths or Science programme...lol.. :stompfeet:

Hi can I just confirm that NYGH uniform(blouse and skirt) are identical to NYPS? Meaning for girls there is no need to buy new uniform?
