Can i check, for boys keen to do medicine, will taking RA help boost their chance? Or double science is still ok.

      Thanks in advance.

Medicine interviews are based on A level grades.
Of course if DS is good at a subject & wants to study it at a higher level, it helps to increase his chances of doing well for it.

      thank you very much.

For Y3 books, may i know from experienced parents/students, are there any optional textbooks need not have to buy? Or need to buy all?

I see that compare to Y2, there are a lot more this time and not cheap either. 😞

          Dear all,
We will be overseas in Dec and will only be back in SG on 1 Jan. The bookshop lady said the 2020 booklist will only be out on S1 reporting day, but we won’t be around.

We hope to buy some of the “compulsory” books before we leave for our trip. May I know which textbooks Y1 uses for Math and Literature?

If anyone still has a copy of the 2019 Y1 booklist, kindly PM me a copy.

          Thank you so much. 🙏🏻
          Luxeddream,
The school may change lit books or not, so you probably shouldn't get them first. Chinese reader my boy's chinese teacher bought for them and may also change, who knows. These can get when school reopens or at Popular/Kinokuniya if school out of stock.

The math and science textbooks were optional purchases for us. I heard (elsewhere) there is change in math syllabus.

Only compulsory purchases are mother tongue books, history, geography and files. These except files can be purchased from Popular bookstore too. I am not sure if should advise you to get early as the school can choose to change the textbooks for history and geography for inhouse textbooks or use other publications. We didn't need to buy mother tongue workbooks too.

You can just go to the school bookstore to get the (higher) mother tongue tb and all the necessary files. Can also try asking if they can sell you Yr 1 lit books - if they ask what titles, you ask \"oh, you don't know?\" 😓

Even if they refuse to sell the files without a list, just get when school reopens. The boys dont need the files til few months later.

Those whose t-scores are 1 point above cop will definitely get in, but those whose t-scores are exactly the same as the cop, some do & some don’t depending on your t-score decimals.
However, only moe has records of the decimals & it is confidential.
Your certificate only shows the 1st 3 digits
Eg if RI cop is 258, and many boys are 258s:
              258.11134
              ....
              258.35677
              ....
              258.75678
              ....
              258.95677
It is possible those above say 258.74000 got in but not those who were lower.
However, moe new rule says that as long as the cop is met, candidates are allowed to appeal.
So those with 258. 0xxxx are eligible to appeal but not a candidate whose t-score is 257.xxxxx

We are in same situation. DS just got his WL converted today and we will be overseas during reporting day.

Don’t worry too much about buying textbooks & school stationery. Other than buying the school uniform (school tie & badge will be given on Investiture Day) by the time school reopens, other items can be purchased later.

As far as I recall, only Mother Tongue, Literature & 3rd language textbooks are required when lessons start, other textbooks are optional - buy later on a need-to basis.

To minimise queueing time, enquire on school bookshop & uniform vendor(s) operating hours, and purchase the necessary before/after Reporting Day (RD) or even on RD in the afternoon.

For info, as a guide - 3 sets each of uniform + PE attire should be sufficient. 1 black Polo-T (for Fri) & 1 House-T (for Wed) - House allocation only announced later. White socks (no need school socks) - no ankle socks. White shoes (70% white).

Prefects' school attire is black shoes + long pants.
