It is okay not to share this information. I just want to understand if this kind of calculation is representative for my second one.

To your first question, yes it is MOE official criteria.
1) To be eligible for Third Language, candidate got to be top 10% in psle aggregate - Is this an official criteria for eligible stated by MOE?
2) It’s good to acquire another language but I’m not sure if my daughter is able to cope... i) Does she has to take through her just 4yrs or 6yrs IP? Can she drop the 3rd language if she realise the load is overwhelming? iii) Does taking/dropping 3rd language has any implication to L1R5?
To your second question, you can drop 3rd language anytime. Even after just 1 term in the first year, you can drop if you want. The only time you are not allowed to drop is one month or less before exam time. I think MOELC just want to prevent panicking students from giving up just before exam.
3rd language has no impact on L1R5 unless you want to use it as one of the humanities subject.
Also note that for quite a few IP schools, 3rd language is not even taken into account when calculating MSG or GPA scores.
So if your child is interested to learn a 3rd language, and she qualifies for it, can try for a few months to see if she can cope. MOELC hires high quality teachers and has a rigorous curriculum. No need to pay any fees. Only need to buy textbooks. -

Hi Chewsy
It is okay not to share this information. I just want to understand if this kind of calculation is representative for my second one.
Hope this is useful for you:
I know of 2 children from the same class with the same total prelim marks but with different tscore
354 x 0.765 = 271
354 × 0.745 = 264
I do not know the breakdown by subjects though. -
You can work backwards.
Take the final PSLE score divided by the prelim result to obtain the factor.
I’m just saying past KSP parents in this forum have shared the range is from 0.72 (very pessimistic) to 0.75 (very optimistic).
So in your elder one’s case, he or she has exceeded the optimistic range. Maybe u can calculate and let us KSP know, what 0.7x is the new most optimistic factor?
Then we can update here. -

Majority of the people will fall within 0.72-0.75

It is not a 100% thing that all students fall within the range. It is only used as a guide that students’ tscore will likely fall within that range.
So if your tscore is more than 0.75 of your prelims, then you could jolly well say that you did better than expected. -

on page 9 of \"Choosing your Sec Sch 2020\" issued by MOE to all parents, under section 8.4b, it is clearly stated that \"If your child is in the top 30% of the PSLE cohort who have taken Higher Chinese at the PSLE, they will be given bonus points for admission to SAP schools\"
I not too sure abt that, maybe someone can quote the MOE guidelines just to confirm?? Thanksmengsan\" post_id=\"1948114\" time=\"1574432560\" user_id=\"31254:

this is also my understanding. Anyone can help to confirm again? Thanks.
and under section 10.1 & 10.2, it is stated \"A student with a better aggregate score will be considered for admission first, subject to the availability of vacancies in the selected school\".[/quote]Actually I misread the original post somehow, I thot if tscore+hmt (eg 250+1) = tscore w/o hmt (251), are they ranked exactly same when applying for sap sch? A lot say 251 is better than 250+1, but non conclusive on MOE guidelines -

Mine is very accurate tho, I got the same score as when I calculated my prelim times 0.75
If based on Prelim results (Total aggregate x 0.75), How far is the PSLE results compared to Prelim? Can someone share some statistic? Mine is +14 -
Last year psle my gals factor were 0.77 while 2016 psle is 0.76

Finally, PSLE is done and dusted and results obtained. Its truly been a long, long journey!!
