So does that hint that those that join the sch without HMT will all have a choice to take HMT lessons without any selection, and probably can to take HMT O lvl at the end?

So does that hint that those that join the sch without HMT will all have a choice to take HMT lessons without any selection, and probably can to take HMT O lvl at the end?

Quite possible, definitely something to look out for. Besides those mentioned in the article are very positive changes, can really see that this new head puts in a lot of heart into the sch.

if NaN Chiau high has any internal criteria for hcl for sec 3. whereby if student score below b3 at Sec 3, student cannot take the hcl o level paper in Sec 4. Which also mean will lose the bonus point for taking hcl.

Idk whether things changed since the new principal took over, like how HYTam86 suggested. For my kid's yr the HOD recommended students who scored b4 and below to continue with normal CL since HCL is a step higher, unless they are very sure that they can score a merit for HCL. They did't really force if the kid insists that he can cope, though there were definitely some nagging. Since let say if the kid did't make it thru for O lvl HCL in the following yr, he technically loses more (in terms of points) than if he continued CL and scored even just slightly better.

You might want to call the sch tmr to confirm again. But I suggest don't look at these small part too seriously (as they are not black and white rules to begin with). Best is to let the kids decide for themselves. They are the ones to be going to the school. Let them be independent to deal with what is coming up, since the most important thing for them is to enjoy studying and not forcing them to go somewhere they don't like and come back again saying \"my mom or pa say got bonus points so I come lorh\". They need the motivation and purpose to perform well in school.

Do you mean drop hcl paper in Sec 4 but still continue with hcl lessons in Sec 4 and retake chinese as a subject in JC1?

Thanks.[/quote]No. Retake CL at Olevels in sec 4 again to improve the CL Olevels score they had taken in sec 3.

Moe disallows taking CL & HCL at Olevels in the same year, so will hv to drop hcl if retake CL in sec 4.

School will make arrangements for CL lessons instead of HCL.
