Every student is given a student ID. The student ID allows you to access the school portal. The student can download past years papers from the school portal.

Hi, if I may add - It is solely internal school assessment/examination for Sec 1 to Sec 4 levels, (other than the national HCL O level exam at Sec 4 ), so do make good use of school provided materials like the notes, worksheets, revision packages in iTunes and these past year papers.
They are given quite a no of years of Nyghโ€™s past year exam papers on the portal but do note that there may be some change of syllabus etc from year to year.
If the student canโ€™t find the questions relating to a certain topic that is examinable for Sec 1, look into the Sec 2 exam papers, there may be a change in sequence of topics covered.
Dd also feedback that there are changes in style of questions asked, as in there are more applications based questions for the sciences for the more recent exam papers, so it may be better to start with those.

          Hi ,

Is there a chance to get a place in NYGH if my girl got 263+2 for her psle this yr?

In NYGH, both eng and Literature will be combined in one subject from yr 1to yr 4? So, Literature is compulsory for 4yrs.

How many subjects will the girls take when they are in Sec 3? Are all the subjects taken being added to MSG?

Do the girls need to get a B4 in O level HCL in order to drop Chi in JC (just like HCI)?

          Thanks!

I've just had a look at the booklist. Even I take into account some are \"either or\" options, it's adding up to quite a bit. Will these books really be used? Or like Swc mentioned, students will mostly rely on notes? Cos I remember the primary school book list used to list books that were stated as compulsory, but my children said never/hardly used. It was such a waste of money.

Chinese, LA and Geog used extensively. History - students are expected to read the textbooks in their own as background reading. In class, teacher does not use it for teaching. However, you do have to have read the textbooks so I guess you do need a copy.
Maths - again, teacher uses notes to teach but some assignments come out from the textbooks/workbooks.
Science is the only subject that my DD din even touch the textbooks for the whole year.

Thanks. I'll not buy the Science textbooks first then. Or maybe get hand me downs from relatives.

Almost confirm can get in with her excellent t score ๐Ÿ˜‰ The girls have to take Language Arts up to year 4, which is English + Literature.

How many subjects the girls will take in Sec 3 will depend on both their interests and their grades in Sec 2, though it is common to take 8 subjects.

For IP programme (Sec 2 MSG 4.0 or better):
              - Compulsory subjects: LA, Chinese Language & Culture, Integrated Humanities, Math 1, Math 2, Chemistry
              - Optional subjects: Literature, Chinese Literature, Geography, History, Physics, Biology, Higher Art, Adv Music, 3rd Lang
              - If your Sec 2 MSG is 2.0 or better, you can take 9 subjects, otherwise you can take no more than 8 subjects.
              - To take 10 subjects or SMTP / HP program, you need MSG of 1.5 or less.

For O level class (or Structured IP):
              - Compulsory subjects: English, Higher Chinese, Humanities (Social Studies with Elective Geo/Lit/Hist), Math, Additional Math, Chemistry
              - Optional subjects: Literature, Physics, Biology, Higher Art, Food & Nutrition
              - Students in SIP can offer no more than 8 subjects.
              - Students can transfer back to IP if Sec 3 end of year MSG is 2.5 or better

For Sec 1, 2 and 3 MSG calculation = computed using all examinable subjects, with equal weightage; 3rd lang will be included if it is to the advantage of the student

For Sec 4 MSG calculation is L2R5: LA, HCL, 1 Humanities, 1 Math, 1 Science and 2 other best subjects. Need MSG 3.0 or better to promote to HCI.

For NYGH IP students HCL O level results (same as HCI IP students):
              - A1 to B4: - optional to attend lessons in H1 CL in JC 1
              - C5 to D7 - Attend 2 hrs of H1 CL lessons per week and sit for GCE โ€˜Aโ€™ Level H1 CL exam at the end of JC 1.

Caveat: info is accurate for 2019/2020. The above requirements may change the following years.

Sorry another question. Trying to take advantage of Black Friday sales, what kind of school shoes is accepted in nygh? Must it be all white or mostly white or any colour? And should it be track shoes that can be used for PE, or Bata type school shoes?

NYGH accept ALL white shoes only. No visible branded logo name is allowed. Track shoes (can be coloured) can be used only for CCA purposes/or school outdoor events whereby school will send emails to inform students. Eg. Sports Meet, etc. That means your dd is required to wear white shoes during school hours, and only change back to track shoes after school curriculum hours, when she has to attend her sports' CCA (if she opt for sports).
