Hi,
May I know how a student gets admitted to the Euler programme and what’s exactly does bring admitted to the programme means? -
Hi, my son did not receive the letter from MOE stating that he is eligible for HMTL. I hope to appeal to the school to allow him to take HMTL.
Has anyone experienced the same situation? I wonder what are the chances that the school will allow him to take it. And whether or not there will be any aptitude test, interview etc.
Can anyone also provide a rough estimate for % of students who DO NOT take HMTL?
Thank you. -

We have not experienced the same situation but maybe I can share a little info that may help. During the open house, we talked to a MT teacher. She said generally all the boys take HMTL since they usually meet the criteria set by MOE :

• Ranked among the top 10% of the\tPSLE;\tor
• In the top 11%- 30%\tband who meet the language criteria (i.e.an A* grade in the MTL or at least a Merit in the\tHMTL).
I believe the school has the discretion to offer to those who might not have met the criteria. Give RI a call or clarify during reporting day. -

Sometime in Jan, the boys will bring home a notice regarding Euler application timeline and pre requisite. I can only recall need A* in psle math and a gd achievement in an mo competition. Then when application approved, the boys will sit for a written test. Then shortlisted boys undergo a round of group interview. I understand that final selection numbers was between 20-25 boys this year.

It is a pull out prog. That means during math curriculum time, the Euler boys will move from their form class to another class for lessons. -
Thank you jedamum. In that case, does it mean that getting into the Euler programme will not require him to stay back after school as it is conducted during the maths curriculum?

Yes, same curriculum time. So the test paper is different from others except end-of-year exam. And it is calculated into gpa.

Hi, I understand that the promotion for Y1-4 only looks at Core 5 + 1 best subject. May I know for lower Sec, what are the core subjects and what are those that can be used for best subject?
For students who take HMT, do they also take MT paper? (Like in PSLE where MT and HMT are 2 separate papers.) If not, wouldn’t it be more difficult for students taking HMT to be promoted compared to those who take just MT?
Thank you. -

For Y1-2, core 5: English, MT, mathematics, science and 1 humanities (English literature/history/geography). Best 1: any remaining subject including elective (mep/aep/3rd language/cep).

No, only hmt paper. So I don’t know the difference between hmt and mt. For Chinese, almost all are taking higher Chinese, only a few taking Chinese. -

Thank you very much for the information. So it means the boys have to get minimum 60 marks for HMT in order to be promoted?

For those taking normal Chinese, are the boys segregated into the same class, or do they attend separate lessons during Chinese period only?
