IM too late for PV as I need to register my DD this year. I have also juz realised that IM out of 2km though I stay in HG.
Anyone can advise me of my chance under phase 2C this year? -

Actually, I will be very surprised if somebody could advise you of your chance this year in Phase 2C, at this moment.
So, yes, I am also curious to know who can advise you of your chance this year under Phase 2C.

qms:
agree. The best you can do is analyse the school's past stats & take the risk from there.cantbearit2:

Even during registration stage, I do not think anyone can advise us on the exact chances of getting into a particular school.qms:

I am just trying to find out what are my chances in the Hougang area in Phase 2C for this year's registration based on some other info perhaps. As in, maybe some parents have additional information which may help us in analysing the probability. Eg. more males than females in 2004. Thgs like that. -

It's impossible to do any analysis at this stage, unless you are privy to certain information.Maybe IM not being clear. Here, I am not talking about the exact numbers. Even during registration stage, I do not think anyone can advise us on the exact chances of getting into a particular school.

Let me tell you why. To perform a thorough analysis, besides birth rate, you need to know the following, among others:
1. What is the intake of the school?
2. how many PRs,
3. how many new Singapore citizens (those converted from PR status to Singapore citizenship)
4. How many qualify for earlier phases e.g. Phases 1 and 2A. It makes a difference whether 60% or 40% of the vacancies are left behind for Phase 2C and beyond.
That is why, nobody will be able to advise you anything. All you can do is to refer to past balloting history.
Hence, no point cracking your head trying to come up with detailed analysis now. Might as well spend more time shortlisting more schools for your child. -

Dear cantbearit2, qms has laid out quite clearly why it is so difficult to compute your actual chance of getting into the school you want, because it is dependent on so many different factors. The statistics we provide in KiasuParents.com is really more to facilitate planning for contingencies than anything else.Maybe IM not being clear. Here, I am not talking about the exact numbers. Perhaps it might help you: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-birth-rate-vs-available-primary-one-places. Assuming the rate of PR intake remains the same as last year, it is likely that the number of vacancies in schools maintain the same profile as last year, since the birth rate between 2003 and 2004 is quite similar. -

And, I didn't mention about people who will be shifting nearer to the school via purchasing or renting of flats..... :shock:Dear cantbearit2, qms has laid out quite clearly why it is so difficult to compute your actual chance of getting into the school you want, because it is dependent on so many different factors. Thank u all for replying to my query above..Hi all,
I m new here, my son is due for P1 in 2012.
I m looking at HIPS n I do stay within 1km.
Do i have a high chance of getting in?
Or do i still need to register for PV to get a confirm seat?
TIA for any advice...
Anyway the PV for HIPS is already closed, guess i would have to wish for the best.
Another things is can we ballot for a few school at the same time?
I may try St.Andrews but it's definately more than 2km.
If i didn't become PV for any school, means it will all depends on luck during balloting? -
ChiefKiasu:
Thanks Chief, will definitely check out the birth rate comparison and all other relevant statistics. You can only register with one school at any point in time. Hence, you can only ballot for ONE school at any point in time.
