How does the JC allocation system work
Allocate students by pts only or choice matters ?
what if two kid got 7 pts (after minus 2 bonus) who will got in first OR lucky draw?

      Thanks!

      Allocation by:
      1. Nett points
      2. If there is a tie, Singaporeans come first followed by PR and then foreign students
      3. If 2 Singapore students are tied, the one with better raw points will get in first.
      4. If there is still a tie, then ballot

      For Allocation by:
      1. Nett points

Is it all the 7-2 get in 1st, then the 9-4 get in, until the very last vacancy with a tie?

        Asking on behalf of friend,
Her DD got L1r5 10, bonus 2 pts.
What is the raw L1r5 needed to do 4H2 in acjc?

Also, is the JC1 promo passing rate high?

For ACJC, L1R5 must be 8 points raw before they allow you to take 4 H2 subjects.

I asked them at the Open House last week.

        Thanks Parent!

Another friend now asked me this:
Her DD got 12-4, from Geylang Methodist, but didn’t attend open house last week.
She wants to know since she’s affiliated, is she ahead in the ranking, even ahead of those non-affiliate who are 10-2?

In my DD's school, no one scored A1 for Higher Chinese for the recent GCE O Levels.

This is very surprising becos there are students who are very academically inclined and some have shown consistent strength in the subject over the 4 years in secondary school.

I wonder how other secondary schools perform in this subject. Or did MOE raised the standard or the school is just unlucky where their students exam papers were marked by an unusually strict examiner/marker?
The distinction for HCL in my DS school is 29.6%. Considering that he is from a SAP school with strong Chinese culture.. this is quite low.. but to be fair.. with 8-9 subjects to manage and knowing that C6 will get you the 2 bonus points.. how many kids will aim for A1? My DS got C6 and he is happy that he got his 2 bonus points..

May I know the distinction you are referring to is A1 or A1 and A2?

By the way, there are students motivated enough to aim for better grades than a low pass for the 2 bonus points.

                My DS got L1R5 11 - 2 point = 9.

Is’t safe to put SAJC as 1st choice?
                Thanks.

Promotion criteria in JC might be another consideration for parents.

This is probably child dependent. Doing well in O levels does not necessarily equate to them doing well at JC1. Some JCs might be known to have tougher promotion criteria vs others. So to us, that is a consideration too in JC choice.

Both are treated as 5 pointers. However, if 5 is the COP, ie the last place, and both are SC, then the student with raw 7 will get the place first.

It is very clearly stated in the JAE admission booklet that the admission criteria are net L1R5, citizenship, gross L1R5. If still tied, it says that there will be a computerized ballot with EQUAL CHANCE given to candidates. No where does it mention that the order in which the JC was selected matter. So it means that if two students have identical nett and gross scores apply and both are citizens, it theoretically should not matter if the student put the JC as 1st choice or 3rd choice? Can someone shed some light on this because I keep hearing people say that that is not the case and that the student who put the JC as 1st choice would be given priority.
