Thanks Chief, will definitely check out the birth rate comparison and all other relevant statistics. This is what I am talking about.Dear cantbearit2, qms has laid out quite clearly why it is so difficult to compute your actual chance of getting into the school you want, because it is dependent on so many different factors. The statistics we provide in KiasuParents.com is really more to facilitate planning for contingencies than anything else.
Perhaps it might help you: http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/singapore-birth-rate-vs-available-primary-one-places. Assuming the rate of PR intake remains the same as last year, it is likely that the number of vacancies in schools maintain the same profile as last year, since the birth rate between 2003 and 2004 is quite similar.

Another things is can we ballot for a few school at the same time?
You can only register with one school at any point in time. Hence, you can only ballot for ONE school at any point in time. -
agnesleong:
Even if u become a PV, it is also dependent on ur luck should balloting be required for ur distance category
If i didn't become PV for any school, means it will all depends on luck during balloting?
-
Let said i register for HIPS, and i stay within 1km.
It happen tat i need to ballot n so unlucky tat i can't get a seat.
So i will have to register for another school, mayb St. Andrews.
I ballot again n fail again, so i register another school again?
Is the registration period long enough tat i can try my luck again n again?
Or i in the end i have choose whichever school tat have seat w/o balloting?
:? :? :? -
agnesleong:
Let's say you register for HIPS during P2C registration this year, on Aug 2-4. Registration for P2C ends on Aug 4. Results for the allocation of places for P2C will be known only on Aug 13, which means that most of the schools will conduct balloting on Aug 13. Once registration for P2C ends on Aug 4, P2C is considered closed. Hence, if your child doesn't get into HIPS during the balloting on Aug 13, you will have to register your child under P2C Supplementary, which will be held on Aug 18. By this time, most of the popular schools will have their places filled. Hence, you can only register your child with a school that still has places in P2CS.Let said i register for HIPS, and i stay within 1km.
It happen tat i need to ballot n so unlucky tat i can't get a seat.

St Andrews had all their vacancies taken up by P2C. Hence, assuming this year's situation is the same as last year, you will not be able to register with St Andrews because the school will not have any vacancy left for P2CS.
You should weigh your chances with HIPS before the registration for P2C ends on Aug 4. If you want to register your child in another school instead (in view of the low chance in HIPS), you must quickly withdraw your child's registration with HIPS and register with the second school. All these need to be done before the clock strikes 4.30 pm on Aug 4. -
Hi,
I just shifted to hougang few months ago. I’m choosing between Hougang Pri sch or Xinmin Pri sch as they are <1km from my home. Wondering which sch are better in terms of academic and sch environment? Seems like both sch quite popular in hougang based on past years P1 registration statistic.
Any parents can advise on these 2 schools? Thanks in advance. -
