This was from last week but still relevant & insightful. It’s a 30 mins Q&A with a Specialist. Learn a lot fr Dr Leong Nam Hoe during SARS & now for nCoV.

He’ll confirm the difference in use of abvmentioned masks by Jadefox.

There is absolutely nothing to worry about if everyone practice proper hygiene. To be honest, most of the folks don’t really practice civic mindedness. Sneezing and/or coughing without covering the mouth, clearing mucus into the grass patch, spitting into the drain, putting used tissue on the tray after wiping mouth at hawker center, littering etc…

I have always told my boys to use the knuckles to press the button in the lift or the glass door to open. Always wash hands before eating, wash hands after a visit to the toilet, wash the tap before one press it again and then wash both hands again, never touch face, nose, eyes unless you need to wash your face. If need to rub your nose when it is itchy just use the wrist and quickly wash the face again.

In dilemma whether to book air tickets to Taiwan in Oct. Was planning to go after my gal PSLE... sigh. Wonder if the situation will be controlled by than 😞

If the price is low, I’ll book it. However, I’ll purchase an insurance policy that pays for cancellation immediately to go along with it.

If you become paranoia and too overly concerned about diseases, viruses, etc, you will probably never leave your house. 2019-nCov could be replaced by 2020-nCov or ABCD-Cov or some other fanciful names. The next natural disaster may also strike Taiwan as it is in the earthquake, typhoon belt.

October?! No more new cases by then. Their kids started their winter holiday on 10 Jan and if they are still well by 24 Jan, they are cleared of the virus. If they had come in on 14/15 Jan (which is our govt's cut-off dates), and are still ok today 31 Jan, why so afraid of them?

The latest 3 confirmed ones in Singapore came in on 22 Jan, one day before the Wuhan lockdown on 23 Jan.
So there are more who came in before the lockdown, they should be cleared of the virus by Li Chun. I believe many of them are holed up in relatives' homes in all parts of Singapore, or hopping around hotels.

We've already blocked Hubei residents from entering since 27 Jan. Only those who managed to come in from Hubei via other China cities from 23-27 Jan need to be closely monitored until mid-Feb. All in all, there should be about 1,000 on short-term visit passes out of 2,000 of them amid us (that means 8,000 out of the reported 10,680 from 31 Dec-23 Jan had probably already left our borders).

The Chinese government is sending charter flights to fetch their stranded citizens home. Not sure which countries go first..

I've lost tracked the no. of pending cases. I last saw 100+ on Wed. I guess some of them will be tested positive in the coming days and will be conveyed accordingly to NCID for quarantine. MOH is hunting down more short-term visit pass holders who are \"at large\". More figures should pop up voluntarily as their social visit pass will expire soon. If their embassy doesn't not fly them back soon on charter flights, they could become overstayers.

TBH I’m amused by the paranoia surrounding 2019-nCov. Is it because it’s China?
Yesh. To put things in perspective, Wuhan has a population of over 11 million. Hubei over 58.5 million.

You are more likely to catch pneumonia and die from the flu than from 2019-nCoV. The 2009 H1N1 swine flu originating from North America was all over the world before anybody raised any alert. Of course, you cannot call it the American Swine Flu. That's just politically incorrect.

That said, the same precautions apply to both corona and flu virus. Forget about the mask. Wash your hands often, don't touch your face, and don't share food.

A bit late now, but take a flu jab. You don't want to be quarantined just because you caught a flu bug.

We did not wear mask except when visiting my FIL in SGH. More to protect him instead of us. When we face him, we just remove the mask.

I still book the air tickets to Taiwan in Jun. Not too worry about it.
