we have been told to practise good hygiene and to wear masks if unwell.

I can only hope those who are unwell wear masks to avoid spreading to the rest.

Agree. Be level headed & think critically. DO NOT panic unnecessarily.

Sch started reducing big group meeting & cut morning assembly, PE/CCAs in small groups. Some companies alr set directives no customer meetings or do voice/video conferencing.

Was visiting FIL in hospital & whenever need to get food for MIL, we find seats away fr big groups. The moment MIL goes up hospital feeder bus, whip up face mask only for the confined journey. Reach home change & wash up before resting on any part of home. I wash my hands & keys & wipe doors & knobs. Not paranoid but just reduce bringing home unwanted germs.

Keep our errands short & avoid crowded areas. Wash hands & wash hands. Face not touch! Stay safe.

        Good job!

But there are some who say we are spreading paranoia, just like the govt who say don't need to wear masks unless sick! 😲😲😲

MIL only wear masks bcoz :-

        1. It’s in a very confined hospital feeder bus
        2. She don’t wear when not in confined spaces
        3. She is in her 80s

I don’t wear mask when sending FIL to/from dialysis nor to hospital in cab, but I gave the taxi drivers fresh new masks bcoz they face passengers in confined spaces. I tell them they amongst other occupations need to take extra care diff fr public as it’s their livelihood. One taxi driver had his masks on but took it down when he hear my Sporean accent & I was intrigued by his act. He relaxes easily, not paranoid.

In a series of tweets, the British Columbia Centre of Disease Control (BCCDC) provides a clear explanation about the virus and the ways it can and cannot be transmitted:

“The receptors for coronavirus are deep in a person’s lungs – a person must inhale enough of the virus that it can actually bind to those receptors deep in the lungs,” says the BCCDC, adding that the virus is transmitted through “larger droplets that fall quickly out of the air (for example, after a sneeze)” meaning it is not airborne.

The virus also doesn’t spread through “casual contact.” Individuals must be in close contact (within two metres) to be able to inhale droplets from a cough or a sneeze that is not covered.

If an individual touches a surface or object that has droplets containing the coronavirus, they are not in risk of getting the virus in their body as long as they clean their hands before touching their face or mouth.

“Coronavirus is not something that comes through the skin. This virus is remitted through large droplets that are breathed deep into a person’s lungs,” says the BCCDC.

As for masks, they should be used by sick people in order to prevent transmission to others, as the masks help keep droplets contained.

However, it may be less effective to wear facemask when a person is not sick, as they “may give a person a false sense of security” and increase times they touch their face in order to adjust the mask.

So what is the most important thing people can do to prevent themselves from getting the virus?

Wash your hands regularly and avoid touching your face, says the BCCDC.

“Cover your mouth when you cough so you’re not exposing other people. If you are sick yourself, stay away from others. Contact your health care provider ahead of time so you can be safely assessed.”

Oh my. Sensible advice from the Brits... but anyone who say we don't need to wear masks unless we are sick cannot be a trusted source. We should trust the old wives (no offense, ladies) logic than some experts who have probably too many Permanent Head Damages from spending too much time studying viruses. Therefore, as the Brits will say, in my very nice real-fake British accent, f*** off

            😂

P/S: any expert comments about the 2019-nCov virus that doesn’t include the words China, Chinese or Wuhan to raise up those xenophobic feelings is definitely paid for by the Chinese government 😉 😂

Viruses can be airborne once the water droplets dry up. No?
