The early symptoms are non-specific (including feeling tired, headache), hence making it much harder for a GP to make a call on whether to send for further investigations.

Perhaps we could use this forum to share on how Singaporeans have contributed and helped others sensibly during this time? 😉
I’m voicing my view because we need to channel our energy positively to brace this crisis together. To each his own. 😃
Yes, we all need some 正能量 🙂
Our authorities were a tad slower to hold a presser (first was 27 Jan), whereas Taiwan, Japan and HK had already held theirs prior to 小年夜. Being a germaphobe, I emailed a handful of private enrichment centres and CL tuition centres (not under MOE purview) from 小年夜 to 初一 to request them to create an online travel declaration form so their PRC teachers/students must declare where they had visited. 😂

Can't help but notice the Bangladeshi worker was clinic-hopping until he was confirmed positive. Who were those GPs he saw?

I notice in some non-Wuhanese direct import cases, patients had to clinic-hop too.

          Case 29 (Seletar, Topiary condo) - 29/1, 30/1

          Case 31 (Tampines) - 23/1, 28/1

Case 32 (VJC) - 2/2 (so she taught in school from 29 - 31 Jan?)

          Case 34 (YTH staff) - 27/1, 1/2

          Case 37 (Jurong East PHV driver) - 1/2, 3/2

          Case 39 (Hyatt, Jurong West) - 3/2, 5/2

          Case 41 (Pat's SH, PLMChurch) - 1/2, 5/2, 6/2

          Case 42 (Bangladeshi) - 3/2, 5/2, 7/2

          Case 43 (Fernvale, RWS staff) - 30/1, 5/2, 6/2

Were our Singapore pte GPs astute enough to spot the symptoms and convey them to NCID straight away? These cases seem quite different from the earlier ones which were assessed by GPs in Raffles Medical, Parkway Shenton and some larger health groups located in shopping malls and CBD office buildings. Remember earlier there were many heartland malls that had to be disinfected?

I'm concerned that some inexperienced GPs 没把好关, allowing these suspected cases to 趴趴走 for so many days. Just hope it's not because they didn't want to shutter for 14 days. I'd seen some GPs in HDB flats (those that have been in business for 30+ years) for minor probs, but they didn't seem very knowledgeable and even recommended another GP in another nearby avenue for a 2nd opinion. LOL!

It is better not to doctor hop unless maybe after the second visit you think that you prefer a second opinion. The reason is the 2nd doctor won't know that you have seen a doctor prior to going to him and he doesn't know the history of your condition. I am inclined to think that each doctor he had seen though that it's just a common flu as the common flu and coronovirus do share similar symptoms.

That is also the reason why I don't go to a doctor immediately on the onset of flu unless I really need the MC. I usually wait for 2 or 3 days for the symptoms like running nose and cough to appear. For example, if you don't have a running nose, the doctor would not prescribe the medication for it. If your running nose come on after you have visited the doctor, you would have to see him again. BTW doctors only give you medication to relieve your symptoms only. The rest is up to your body to fight the virus.

The fast and accurate PCR diagnostic test is already available: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/coronavirus-made-in-singapore-diagnostics-test-implemented-at-hospitals-here

Not sure how many GPs are recommending that their “cold and flu” candidates go for these PCR tests though. I dunno who foots the bill.

I'm not sure GPs should be sending all patients with cold and flu symptoms for the PCR test though, because even though the turnaround time is faster, it still requires specialised equipment so only hospitals and institutions with the equipment can conduct the test. If everyone starts sending samples in for testing, it might actually slow down the detection process because there will be too many samples to test. That's the problem in Wuhan - everyone with a bit of a sniffle goes to the hospital and the hospitals are too flooded to identify actual cases.

That's why the GPs usually give the usual sore throat/cough/runny nose medicines and advise that if your symptoms don't subside within X number of days, then go back for another check. For most people with a cold, the symptoms should improve with the medication. Just DON'T GO OUT while you are recovering, so that in the rare situation where you are infected with nCOV, you don't spread it to other people.

What mainsteam media didn't dare mention: case no. 12 & 18 were PRC prostitutes

I recently called my good buddy and old RI classmate (who is now a somebody in MOH) to vent my frustration and anger on the miserable state of affairs surrounding the current spread of the coronavirus. Funnily he said the people at MOH weren't at fault; rather it was no thanks to ICA and MOM who allowed all them PRC Wuhan virus carriers to travel here. He told me case #12 was a f**king prostitute from Wuhan who fled the city just before it got shut off from the outside world. ICA had apparently let in all these folks from Wuhan by the planeloads. Anyways back to this whore, she was staying in Hotel 81 and other hotels servicing god knows how many men. At least 2 of her clients caught the virus from her. One of them turned out to be the Bangladeshi whom the authorities tried to blame for his visit to Mustafa.

The PCR machine is a bulk processing machine. It can test up to hundreds of samples in one run. In fact, it’s more efficient to have many rows of samples than just one or two samples and leaving the other slots in the machine empty.

                      tesseomma, :thankyou:
Thank you for such specific instructions. Very constructive. Will share with my kids at home

It is true, we shld stay home after visiting doc & not wonder ard. That’s when we unknowingly spread. S’times when ppl don’t recover, they become fearful & that’s when they become irrational.

Stay calm, keep good hygiene, stay healthy everyone. 🙏

We’re still waiting for nCoV specific vaccine.

Every flu will be treated differently. Docs alr advises getting our usual Influenza A jab will not protect us fr Influenza B, same vis-versa. NCoV is a totally new strain fr SARS & other flu strains, currently vaccine yet to be in the mkt for public use. There seems some indication of it emerging but it has not been WHO tested or approved as yet.

Pray it will be found soon.
