I recently called my good buddy and old RI classmate (who is now a somebody in MOH) to vent my frustration and anger on the miserable state of affairs surrounding the current spread of the coronavirus. Funnily he said the people at MOH weren't at fault; rather it was no thanks to ICA and MOM who allowed all them PRC Wuhan virus carriers to travel here. He told me case #12 was a f**king prostitute from Wuhan who fled the city just before it got shut off from the outside world. ICA had apparently let in all these folks from Wuhan by the planeloads. Anyways back to this whore, she was staying in Hotel 81 and other hotels servicing god knows how many men. At least 2 of her clients caught the virus from her. One of them turned out to be the Bangladeshi whom the authorities tried to blame for his visit to Mustafa.

The PCR machine is a bulk processing machine. It can test up to hundreds of samples in one run. In fact, it’s more efficient to have many rows of samples than just one or two samples and leaving the other slots in the machine empty.
I'm not sure GPs should be sending all patients with cold and flu symptoms for the PCR test though, because even though the turnaround time is faster, it still requires specialised equipment so only hospitals and institutions with the equipment can conduct the test. If everyone starts sending samples in for testing, it might actually slow down the detection process because there will be too many samples to test. Not sure how many GPs are recommending that their “cold and flu” candidates go for these PCR tests though. I dunno who foots the bill.
That's why the GPs usually give the usual sore throat/cough/runny nose medicines and advise that if your symptoms don't subside within X number of days, then go back for another check. For most people with a cold, the symptoms should improve with the medication. Just DON'T GO OUT while you are recovering, so that in the rare situation where you are infected with nCOV, you don't spread it to other people.[/quote] -

It is true, we shld stay home after visiting doc & not wonder ard. That’s when we unknowingly spread. S’times when ppl don’t recover, they become fearful & that’s when they become irrational.

Every flu will be treated differently. Docs alr advises getting our usual Influenza A jab will not protect us fr Influenza B, same vis-versa. NCoV is a totally new strain fr SARS & other flu strains, currently vaccine yet to be in the mkt for public use. There seems some indication of it emerging but it has not been WHO tested or approved as yet.
Pray it will be found soon. -

How come there appears to be discrepancies in the accounts?
ST said the Cisco guard passed two rounds of temperature checks and DID NOT show sign of unwellness on 31st Jan and 1st Feb.
But the guard himself said he developed symptoms on 31st Jan. Guess he buay tahan liao, after completing his duty, immediately went to see a doc on 2Feb.
Coincidentally he works at Certis Cisco Centre in Paya Lebar. The Life church which infected 5 others, is also situated in Paya Lebar. “Lockdown” Paya Lebar? Just joking. -
Do we have the highest number of people infected by nCoV outside China? No wonder some countries already started issuing travel advisory against visiting Singapore. :sad:

To put things in perspective, although we are 4th highest, we are only 0.1% of the total reported cases. Notwithstanding, given the fantastic news reporting over shortage of rice, toilet paper etc and our legion of doomsday prophets online, hardly a surprise that people wants to issue travel advisory against us. If we so buay zai, who got confidence in us. Better be safe than sorry cuts both ways.
While deaths have surpassed 1k, fatality rate remains ~ 2%, pretty pathetic for a doomsday virus. The recovery rate is also very high and the majority of the infected are mild. Hence, not a surprise that the rate of recovery surpassed the fatality rate. For those lazy to do the math, the website above does it for you.
Kinda disappointing TBH. I was expecting by now, the virus should have mutated and turn the infected into the walking dead or zombies already. I was all ready to put my archery skill into use. Oh well... we can always wait for 2020-nCov. -

Yes, JP cases are mainly from the Diamond Cruise. For now, numbers indicate the country origin of the reporting. Given that the cruise ship is / was in international waters, I can understand why nobody wants to claim it
