What about Iran temperature? i thought middle east should have a lot UV rays to kill ,
am surprised abt the hike in virus attack
I googled Iran’s temperature and UV index, its temperature is 15deg during noon and UV index over there for the day is 5.
Whereas for SG, temperature is 32deg and UV index of 10.

Why surprised about a hike in Iran’s numbers? Thought Iran under economic sanctions? Seems like 3rd world country to me actually. Or their Ayatollah only believes in the power of religion?

SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) on Friday (Feb 28) refuted a rumour circulating on social media claiming that a foreign domestic worker had died from Covid-19 in Singapore.

In a media statement, MOH clarified that there had been no fatality related to the virus in Singapore as of 4pm on Friday.

A Twitter user claimed in a tweet dated Thursday that his maid’s friend, who is also a maid, had just died from Covid-19 in Singapore.

The pet dog of a coronavirus patient in Hong Kong has been found to have a “low level” of the virus, the Hong Kong government said early Friday.

The dog tested “weak positive” for the coronavirus, the city’s agricultural and fisheries department said in a statement, without giving further details. Officials will carry out further tests to confirm whether the dog has really been infected with the disease, or if it was a result of environmental contamination of its mouth and nose.

Much is still not known about the virus that is spreading around the world after emerging in central China late last year. It is thought to have transferred to humans from bats and has been shown to spread in a number of ways, but the Hong Kong agricultural department said it doesn’t have evidence that pet animals can be infected, or be a source of infection to people.

If confirmed, the dog would be the first case of a pet catching the coronavirus amid a global outbreak that’s now infected more than 82,000 people and claimed more than 2,800 lives.

The dog is being quarantined at an animal facility, the Hong Kong government said. The department strongly advised that pets of confirmed virus patients also be put under quarantine.

            Sorry I don’t quite understand.
So such a person (the maid) does exist and had been tested at MOH but found to be negative. So in the end, did this maid die?

Actually can test what is the DNA of the antibodies using the new technology by Duke-NUS. Earlier I read that case number #91 was tested negative at MOH all the while till she recovered on her own. But using this new technology she was found to have contracted Covid-19 before!!

Helpers are not helping when sharing info but spreading falsehoods. Don’t know what are on their minds s’times. :slapshead:

                From gov.sg
                [Sent by Gov.sg – 29 Feb]

Is a discharged COVID-19 patient no longer infectious?

Yes. COVID-19 patients in Singapore are discharged only when fully recovered and no longer transmitting the virus.

Prior to discharge, 2 swab tests at least 24 hours apart are done, using sputum samples, nasal or throat swabs.

Doctors may also conduct tests with fecal or urine samples.

Tests on consecutive days have to be negative before patients can be discharged.

Patients are also given a date for follow up at the hospital.

Associate Professor Kenneth Mak, Director of Medical Services explains: go.gov.sg/profmak-28feb

False rumour: Death of foreign domestic worker (FDW)

There has been a message circulating on social media that qa FDW died in Singapore due to the virus. This is false. MOH has confirmed she was tested for COVID-19 and found to be negative. There are currently no deaths due to the virus.

                Refer to go.gov.sg/mohupdates for updates.

Because of sanctions, iran's biggest trading partner is China, me thinks.

Surprised cos earlier I had wrong impression Iran was totally hot desert region in Middle East. Till zeit mentioned abt winter there , then I googled abt it.
Yah 3rd world , and cold - like that v difficult to control n contain virus, has high chance the numbers will spikehigh up too. Korea n Japan such clean n developed countries are unlucky to be attacked hard already, those developing countries even worst to deal with virus 😓
