You can try Brighton Montessori at Fort Road, my DS had a great time there.

            Hi mummies,

Please advise on what I should do…My 2 year-old girl is currently attending MMI full day in the west coming to about 3 months. Recently I had noticed a change in her behaviour eg she is scared to go to school and will cries and protests. I made a visit to the school to check out whether there is anything different from day 1 and I witnessed something disturbing.
One of the teachers was rough handling a kid (should be around the same age group with my girl) and the poor kid cried when he was excluded from all activities. Now i really wonder whether my girl was given the same treatment.
Overall I am quite disappointed with the action of this particular teacher. The supervisor should have do something about it especially her charges are all very young children and not to mention of the hefty school fees monthly. She should have been more patient or else just change her career to something that doesn’t deal with young kids.

I am now contemplating to change my girl to another school, all because of one black sheep. Teachers play a very important role in any centre be it branded or not.

              Dear Beebeemum, 😄

I have a 2.5 yo son! If my son reacts like that in fear going to school, I will switch him out IMMEDIATELY! I am NOT going to let him stay in that school if it instils fear in him. Pre-school education is NOT compulsory and you are free to go wherever you want! Do not let your girl be traumatized at such a young age. For me, I will have no patience to even wait and see whether this teacher got the boot or not. Of course you can complain to the principal but please be mindful that your girl is under the mercy of this teacher in the meantime.

I pulled my son out of his childcare after 6 months when his teacher told me he cannot concentrate. I think he was bored totally and during this 6 months, he actually WITHDRAWN into himself! I REGRET totally putting him there as 6 months for a young kid is a long time when he was not learning anything! He is now at a much better centre with fabulous teachers and he is enjoying himself! His growth (except speech) is getting back on track!

So please put your child's welfare first. Anybody else (that teacher's ricebowl) be DAMNED!
              :celebrate:

Anyone with feedback for Montessori for Children at Newton? Their teachers are AMI trained, but the ratio is really big, like 1 teacher to about 20 kids (as found on their website)!

                  Hi,

My kid is there. There are 2 teachers per class at all times. She's in the PM session so the class size is half with 2 teachers. I know of a parent who switch her son to AM session but she has no complain about the class size affectiing her son's progress. I also checked with a Montessori teacher in US and was informed that in general for 2-6yrs old mixed class (in ages), in case you are not aware, MFC group children of different ages together, the ration is 1:12, 1:15 so with 2 teachers the class size would be similar to the one at MFC Newton. Thtere are other factors as well such as the physical size of the class, the experience level of the teacher and the age spread of the children.

                      Heyya TripHop daddy,

One of our forummers who runs a student care centre
had rave reviews for Shekinah Montessori. Check it out
if it's near where you are residing. 😉 Heard that MMI
Sengkang has huge premise but the staff turnover is quite
a concern for many. Hope this helps give you a headstart..

                        Hi TripHop daddy,

Not sure how much you know about the Motessori Method. It’s good to have some information about it so that you know what sort of questions to ask and things to look out for when you are kindergarten hunting.

                        Good luck
