I am at IKEA right now, not crowded at all. I wonder where has the lunch crowd gone?! Now, there are stickers in place for social distancing. The seating arrangements are also spaced out. Not bad.
Increased tough measures!

Those residents arriving back to SG after 11.59pm fr UK, US will hv to stay in hotels & not home to limit spread.

Also, consequences for those Singapore residents who insists on travelling abroad despite advisory against travel will hv to pay for own medical expenses in public hospitals, will not be allowed to claim from MediShield Life or Integrated Shield Plans for Covid-19 treatments.

Returning Singapore residents from UK, US to serve stay-home notices at hotels
https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid19-returning-singapore-residents-uk-us-shn-hotels-12571490

Great! With these new measures kicking in, straight away from airport go to dedicated quarantine facilities (like hotels), I feel safer on the whole and it will also reduce cross-infection risks for their family members as well as avoid thorny logistical issues like preparing food/laundry etc.

Should have done this earlier
Feel like the numbers are high and escalating
A lot of overseas citizens have been returning since last week , I m worry a lot already mingle at home with relatives etc
Oversight? Cognitive bias? China Wuhan vs western countries?

So far, it was reported that no overseas returnees has passed on the virus to their family members but I think it’s a bit too early to conclude. Let’s see if there’s a spike in next 14 days for locally transmitted cases. Else, I think we should be quite safe under the new tightened measures in place.

The new measures sound like we are already in a SEMI-LOCKDOWN stage. 😂

Another thing I notice, MOH is getting slower and slower in reporting the unlinked locally transmitted cases. Keep using imported cases to camouflage those unliked cases? MOH tracking team burning out?

I suspect, fees for the classes suspended till 30 Apr, may most prob have no U turn.

But parents can negotiate w centres on after 30 Apr.

Worst case scenario, parents absorb payment made for until 30 Apr. Thereafter, parents have to decide to withdraw or not.

Is it safe to visit the dentist and TCM now? I missed my dental appointment in Jan. I also need to go for cupping, but worry about those glass cups and that dubious bedsheet covering the mattress!
Maybe we should learn to live life as per normal.

The whole cornavirus saga is expected to go on till end of the year. Unless one can forgo all the dental/medical/TMC/facial treatments for almost a year.

For online learning, what are the components we need to get ready?
Bigger screen? Can use TV?
Cable to connect?
Just a computer or an tablet like ipad with camera and wi fi to connect.

U bring in a gd point. What about one to one tuition at tuition centre?

Authority just can't simply ban all classes for the sake of banning and for own convenience. It has to give leeway.

also, if two siblings attend tuition concurrently at a tuition centre, 2 only, is this

- still allowed ?

- considered as private tuition or considered group tuition ?

How to draw a line ?

Because

Sometimes, going to Tuition centre is nearer, than say travel to Tutor house that is far away

Example

a good, reliable Tutor stay in Bedok.
Tutor don't drive

But P6 student stay in Sengkang, Psle this year and Tutor has a tuition centre branch, located in Sengkang.
But student's own house not conducive, for Tutor to come over his house. In this case, student and his younger P4 sibling prefer to go over to Tutor's tuition centre instead in Sengkang, because only 1 bus stop away, from his house

Parents also don't want their 2 kids to travel so far,
from Sengkang to Tutor's house so far in Bedok

You know me so well. Yes, presently I have a P6 student who is staying in Sengkang and he comes over to my place in Bedok for tuition. 😉 I don't drive and his parent does the sending and fetching. Otherwise I won't take him as it's not cost effective but since I was highly recommended the parent thought that it was worth the trouble.

Phase 1 = S$210mil burnt on the hotel/hostel subsidy to SMEs , MNCs and GLCs. Extended Phase 2 = S$ x million ??

The new PM knows he cannot eradicate the spread in 2 weeks, because we're looking at a 16k-pax event + contacts.
14 April

Are taxpayers going to pay $50 x 14 x 300,000 to companies that need Malaysian workers to be here?

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/coronavirus-malaysias-movement-curbs-extended-to-april-14

What's the game plan? Just keep Healthcare and Transport sector workers after Phase 1? The rest like cleaners, logistics packers, security guards can head home?

Unlike some countries, we haven't gone RED or declared a state of emergency yet, so our armed forces cannot be mobilised to carry out certain tasks that are currently done by foreigners.
Taiwan uses its army guys to disinfect premises. US deploys its army to deliver essentials to their vulnerables under quarantine.
