Noticed they’re organized & rostered to cleanup their own environment. Even at the Bt Merah sites they’ve to clean up the unit they’re staying in before shifting in. Keep them busy & give them ownership for a clean & safe abode.

Am guessing that there must be owners or managing committee of the dorms who upkeep the dorms.

Do the FWs have to pay to stay in the dorms or paid by their employers? -

Do the FWs have to pay to stay in the dorms or paid by their employers?
Yes, I believe too that uthese dorms are run by owners as a bz who house FW at a fee charged to individual eyers - nurseries owners, electrical services suppliers, foodcourt cleaning companies, just to name a few. They used to be little control except reporting in/out their security gantry. Now, they’be step-up rules for social distancing, daily scheduled cleaning, and used to be staggered cooking & bathing time just last week but now food are delivered so no more crowding to get their cooking done.
They pay for their own food & hp data plans, but now being helped to stay away fr roaming (same same CB but lockdown in confined dorms or Bt Merah/Cherryloft), to help contain COVID spread, they’re provided with cooked food, WiFi & they step up with their own cleaning. Keep them busy & less time for idling or worrying. Hope less numbers fr the FW in the coming days. :xedfingers: -

The 21 blocks of SERS flat are meant to house those FWs in essential services from the different dorms all over SG (not purely for the gazetted dorms). News reported they will be shifted in a FEW WEEKS time, after refurbishment. Pls lah, in a few weeks, war over already. Just clean up and space them out ASAP. No need to refurbish until nice nice, the FWs aren’t fussy Singaporeans.
No lah, lee_yl, I didn’t say u wor. It was Minister Josephine Teo’s wird’s referring to some who wld & also flashback on how George Yeo lost his Ward when the FW housing was planned in Aljunied.
Anyway, today's news was specified that it is 21 blocks & only mentioned Br Merah. News didn’t say all over SG.
21 blocks shld be sufficient to house >10K pax of healthy workers & guarded by Cisco deployed to maintain order. The rest can stay with more space in current dormitories? They will be ferried to work by company tpt & will not take public tpt.
I do agree when they’re worried, they don’t think beyond unlike most of us will plan ahead & work our contingencies. They live life simply & not as complicated as urban folks. But I’m sure with so many volunteers going in to donate & distribute masks & necessities, the majority wld be thankful & not want to return to their country w/o good medical facilities & disorderlinness.
As a side thot, not in a negative way, thinking for the first time, they experienced local way of living - albeit in HDB 3-bdrms. As it was acquired in 2018, condition probably very run down by SG stds. But for them, it’s much better than India or Blangadesh? Hope they do same same, station medical doc & screening twice daily to ensure moment a FW develops fever, get him segregated fast. I wld think during extraordinary times like this, packet meals shld be delivered to the blocks so they wld not mingle in neighborhood shops. Shld supply basic soap, shampoo & detergent so minimize movements. Helping them this way is smaller costs to stem spread to community, is really helping ourselves. These 14 days CN shld not See many going out to encounter FW otw out to company tpt etc.
Hope SG hv situation turn ard after CB ends. :xedfingers:
In theory, yes, we have better medical facilities but that doesn’t mean we will be able to save all of them if we keep having new cases at 100+ daily. When we have limited ventilators, who do you think SG will save first? Singaporeans or FWs?
When they start to see more and more FWs death cases, give them free meals and free WiFi also useless. They will be in an emotionally unstable and irrational state, just want to go home to see their spouses, kids and aged parents. -
https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/askst-how-effective-is-a-reusable-mask-and-how-do-i-take-care-of-it
Q: Are the government-issued reusable masks effective?
A: Dr Teo Tee Hui, council member of The Institution of Engineers Singapore (IES), who is also a senior lecturer at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, said the reusable masks, which are made of cotton, provide between 50 and 60 per cent of filtration efficiency.
Therefore, it is highly advisable to wear these masks than to not wear any mask at all.
He added that to significantly reduce the risk of spreading the virus, it is important that the majority of the population wear masks.
Infectious diseases expert Leong Hoe Nam agreed that mask-wearing is important, even if it is a reusable one.
Citing a study on the effectiveness of masks made from tea towels , he said a home-made mask was 20 per cent as effective as a surgical one.

Q: How often should I wash the reusable mask? How do I take care of it?
A: Dr Leong said wash the mask once a day with warm water and soap, and wring it gently to dry.
The mask should be air dried, and not in the sun, as the colour could run and may destroy the fabric and filtering capabilities.
-

Does anyone know who should I contact to report those who don't observe the CB? Yesterday, a group of boys was playing soccer at the void deck. Now they are playing outside the corridor to their flat and there are a large group of people in it by the look of the number of shoes outside. These children play at the playground and void deck almost every day. They are creating a din when they kick the ball against the wall. How to live with this for a month? :stupid: :stupid:
