I’d prefer the glass or plexiglass, not so anti-social & builds better mental well-being for all. Wld we hv enuf materials to set them up? I wld prefer if after CB & return to work/sch activities, we can all hv a foldable design we can carry ard in event office workers eat out during lunch & kids can bring along like a lunch box thingy.

Our hopes came to light!
Today’s FW cases gone further down to 628. Locals now in single-digit of number 7. We keep cooperating reduce unnecessary outing & cut COVID spread completely next week? Hope the elderlies are well cared for & no fatalities.
I’m sure our govt, together with ASEAN officials working towards restoring economic activities. Let’s pray we win over COVID enemy & regain our life back.
HOPE
Edit :- Hv to correct my own typo - FW 618 cases today -

Are you quoting me out context again? I am just sharing what the 4 doctors put up as a petition back in early Feb and whose ideas were subsequently adopted by the govt.
Good if u can put in context when we shld press the authorities on use of masks, closing of borders & Mgt of FW. In the hierarchy of things, we do not hv the luxury of all using the best & most effective & I question whether we shld use the N95 even if it’s most effective. The frontliners shld hv max protection with N95, not us on the street. They’re facing the viruses daily & it’s not even comfortable for long hours. If we use N95 daily (u’re now moving away discussing 3-ply surgical masks which we’ve just started producing with ano company starting next mth), I still think it’s costly waste. DH managed a box of N95 but it was in consideration for my late FIL then who was in/out for dialysis on alternate days.
It is frustrating during times like these in fighting the COVID enemy & not fight nor bear grudges with others as even as WHO organizes its members & consolidate those vaccines some countries hv on hand to create the best vaccine, they do not yet know everything abt COVID as yet as things are evolving. We do not know as much nor shld claim to preempt the experts. The medical circles were using ventilators as mechanical support for those COVID patients with collapsing lungs in earlier times & NY mayor was fighting for the release of numerous ventilators in store. Today, specialist all over the world had realized more patients ard the world die fr using ventilators & they’re changing strategies. So, let’s just keep peace & trust the specialist & govt to work out how best to steer the world out of this mire. It’s OK to look at how to improve & do things better but it’s kind of bad to %#@?!#^* the authorities for doing this & not doing that coz they’ve bigger worries at helicopter views that we do not hv.
Just a little sharing abt how this COVID is causing frustration & bldg anger in some ppl besides the home abuse of elderly parents, spouse & children. There are some eyers housing their own workers outside of the bigger regulated dorms. In the initial week when MOM started segregating FW, these eyers were given heads-up to spread out the physical space of each FW fr cramped conditions. One eyer did try & went round town getting a few places to spread his workers out & arrange for bentos delivery after told this is crucial to prevent widespread infection & it’s top urgent. By 3pm, when an MOM Officer realized what these small scale eyers are doing & told him to stop moving his FW & the eyer got angry with him F*** govt rep. What he fail to realized is it’ll be a horrible disaster when every small scale eyers start splitting up FW in varied locations as we all know it’ll not be contained & it’s right into the main community. We’re all learning along the way. Plenty of resources are needed. Many are volunteering to care first care for the frontliners, now the FW & many more now are moving to protect the elderlies in nursing homes. Everywhere needs extra hands. Let’s do positive & constructive work. Thank you.
The authorities may have helicopter’s view but they could also benefit from the collective wisdom of the masses. In KSP alone, I see many viable ideas being shared.
Since you keep repeating that N95 masks should be reserved for frontline healthcare workers, you should be aware of the consequences should every household go buy N95 masks for their elderly family members because of their chronic illnesses. -

Did you read me correctly? CB will cost $1 billion losses PER DAY to the economy leh, still too low?
Lee_yl: Cannot sleep on the floor lah! That's so inhumane. Those hawkish human rights activists from overseas are coming after our govt.lee_yl\" post_id=\"1972488\" time=\"1587695958\" user_id=\"17023:
“Patience ... patience...” Of cos must be fast lah. Each day of CB, Singapore loses close to $1 billon in GDP. Don’t understand why must wait for bedframe to arrive? Cannot sleep on the floor? Now more dorms got gazetted as new dorm clusters pop up on daily basis.
......
It started with only 2 dorms. Today we have 25 gazetted dorms. The cause and effect is mixed up. The active testings allow us to surface new cases BUT these cases came about because they have been packed together and not isolated fast enough.
Yesterday there was a report in ST that stated that
FWs living in dorms has an infection rate of 2.51% while FWs living outside dorms has an infection rate of 0.061% whereas for SG and PR, the infection rate is only 0.023%
The figures speak for themselves so we can expect another 10,000 new cases to be surfaced.
These asymptomatic/mildly symptomatic MWs are technically still positive patients, except they have been decanted to CIFs to free up general wards for the symptomatic patients. If they are gonna be sleeping in the 15000-pax white tentages on the freaking hot Tg Pagar port ground (their Indonesian foam tilams are not waterproof like those in regular hospitals), they will get high fever or bedsores every day! :pokeeye:
How can we a modern developed country provide anything less than what ancient people had provided for their patients more than 100 years ago during the 1918 pandemic?! Even the Auschwitz prisoners slept on elevated triple-deckers.

Besides, there are some universal standards for hospital bed size and heights, right? Though not really that sick, these MWs may still require an occasional clinical inspection by HCWs who cannot simply kneel beside their tilam to check on them if they are feeble. The bedframe /bedhead enables them to sit up at a reclined position.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3655202/
In any case, your estimate of $1 billion loss is far too low! With or without the MWs, regardless of how fast or slow they build the CIFs, it's already double-digit in SGD billions in investments wiped out before the CB. And if more uncles and aunties still don't abide by the rules, another $5 billion will be wasted on the CB. :scared:
And also your estimate of 10,000 more MWs is also far too kind! It's about average 1k confirmed cases daily now, and if you follow that trajectory and assuming extensive testings and contact tracing continue, so by end of CB on 1 Jun, expect 40k minimum, because Singapore is too stubborn, or if you will, stupid, to include testing and counting of presymptomatic and asymptomatic people.
Read this and find out how many more Indonesia tilams we have ordered in exchange for 3 million masks donated to Indonesia this week.
https://coconuts.co/singapore/news/barter-buddies-singapore-indonesia-trade-millions-of-masks-for-thousands-of-beds/
I am not sure if some of the 38,000 beddings will go to the healthy ones living in SERS flats, MSCPs and Sports halls. Hopefully so, as that means their projection of the sick ones is lower than 38,000.
The no. of patients is more than the no. volunteers/workers racing with time to repurpose those CIFs. I read the Expo CIF took 50 men from Surbana just 3 man days to complete erecting 950 cubicles. Some CIFs require longer time to repurpose.
The Tg Pagar port CIF requires time to plant rows of grass plots to provide more oxygen to the inhabitants living on that concrete habitat. Plants help to cool down the surroundings too. Maybe some vertical plants on makeshift wall panels will be great as some might be inside for 4 weeks. This is a good spot for housing the rest of the 20-30k FWs in the coming weeks.

What I meant was, to quickly spread the FWs out, just bring along their mattresses lay on the floor without the need for bed frames .
It’s a temporary arrangement while waiting for the bed frames, pillows, bed linens etc. to arrive.
Don’t have to continue cramping inside the gazetted dorms, wait for 2weeks for the 1st batch of bed frames, beds and bedding linens to arrive right? Can always explain the situation to the human rights activists.
Army guys are trained to sleep on grass patch during exercises. During war, no choice.
Tg Pagar, just by looking at the tents, I can feel the heat rising from the ground. I will definitely suffer heat stroke if I need to stay there for at least 14 days. -

Quoting a post I made on 23April regarding 20 FWs being padlocked inside a room in Joylicious dorm.
At first I also don’t believe.
Later I read that police report was lodged for the Joylicious dorm where 20+ men were confined in a room with windows and doors locked. If really world class treatment as claimed, then why was a police report lodged? And the dorm operator didn’t object to the TWC2 post
From the earlier 2 gazetted dorms up till today’s 19 gazetted dorms within 2 weeks, it shows that we aren’t spreading the FWs out fast enough!
https://postimg.cc/8sWbwjf7
MOM claimed they were not aware of the incident but TWC2 said it had already been escalated to MOM director level on Tue. I supposed someone up there no integrity to admit? I hope MOM management really knows what is happening on the ground.
Why just warning? Illegal confinement is a serious chargeable crime. I hope these dorm operators can treat the FWs better, will be ugly if anything happens to the FWs. Imagine a FW were to die during an episode of illegal confinement?
Reported in ST today, around 3% of the FWs tested positive, putting under the spotlight the living conditions of these dormitories.
For FWs living outside dorm, only 0.061% tested positive whereas for SG and PRs, 0.023% of the population have been tested positive. -
After this crisis, what to do with the beds, mattresses, linen etc?
