Anyone been to popular expo fair? worth the trip?
-
Went today. PH plus lots of other concurrent consumer fairs eg john little, electronics etc - SUPER CROWDED. Donβt bother to park at expo. We park in Changi Airport then took a train to Expo. Popular - - 2-3 hours JUST QUEUING to pay ! Go with logistics support & planning!

Popular sale still on. I went about 10.15am, already had to queue to go in. Figure these last 2 days should be much better.
Fiction titles (adult) buy 1 free 1. Some discounts on children titles. Assessment books on offer - 20%, 25% etc.
The crowd on Sat was really crazy. -
SBF at Suntec was not too bad. Saw the famed 'si wu kuai du' at Maha Yuyi but the prices were amazing. What was RMB19, is SGD9.50 (10% discount for non-members; 20% for members). Didn't buy. figure I rather get from dangdang.
Timesbookshop has a booth there...that one I like. Horrible histories book fairly cheap (eg Horrible Xmas at $4, Horrible Savages sticker book $6). But be careful. I saw a certain title going at $8 in Times; BUT it was only 3 for $10 at another bookshop....same book!
Casco assessment books quite cheap. Some (not all) going at 3 for $12....and I had bought one at $4.70 in Popular expo. :stupid: :stupid:
Geronimo Stiltons at 6.90/7.90 (paper said 6.90; but when I asked it was 7.90...maybe different titles). Friend told me that Borders discount coupon better.

Hi Hquek,
I went to Popular Fair last Friday. Not Worth the trip.
The Q was ridiculously long and not much discount.
Did you see Thomas n Friends in SBF?
My friend bought from Borders -Geronimo Stilton. Better price.
I think getting online still the best option. -

Actually the queue to pay was ok for me. Pretty long, but fast. I paid about 11.30am - told DH to hurry up cos I think the payment queue will only get worse. Thereafter we left the place...saw a long string of cars waiting to turn into the expo road leading to the carpark....siao liao.Hi Hquek,

I saw some Thomas books in SBF but sorry, cannot remember the price.
So miffed over the Horrible Xmas. I just bought from amazon UK for I think about 6pounds....and now I see it at S$4. But these kind of things can only :stupid: - console myself with a \"if I knew, I would be super rich\" thought.
Yes, I think ultimately, going online is still best for many storybooks/non-fiction books. But boh pian...I wanted to get some assessment books.
