Last year was very less movement from NTU waitlist to offer. 😢, and some ppl from medicine discord group said not get offer from waitlist also.

My daughter didn’t get offer from NTU waitlist, she is YLL M1 now.

Happy for you all whose kids got offered to study medicine at NUS/NTU. Congrats!

It was a nightmarish experience. My son is on NTU wait list and I guess probably will be notified of outcome between May 24 and before June 17 after they have sorted out the 1st phase of acceptance/rejection offer. They will be informed of their other choice of course if they are not successful after the wait list.

Well, our kids had tried their best afterall. Regardless of what may come eventually we can’t spend the rest of our life wishing it hadn’t happened. Life goes on.

              Cheers!

each child has their own path… many other ways to get rich, have a fulfilling life, do good for humanity, gain fame or whatever else they think studying medicine can do for them. So dun speculate. Happy vesak day

Think it is even tougher to get an offer at NTU. Basically everyone interviewed by NTU has good bmat. NUS interviewed anyone with 88.75 and above. NTU has an additional hurdle of Bmat. Meaning they picked the best of the best. So everyone who made it to the interviews are very good. They deserved a pat on the back.

LKC Intakes roughly half the numbers in YLL...Yes, probably the best are selected by LKC. Fee is higher 5-6k/yr compared to YLL.

Applicants for LKC knew and taken BMAT in order to qualify for application.
The same group of applicants applied for YLL as well.

LKC is warm and welcoming compared to YLL, many will agreed.
Those receiving double offer from YLL & LKC, many chosen YLL over LKC. It was the case for my girl.

She was charmed by LKC, and so were we...frozen in front of web-screen shown 2 offered choices (LKC & YLL).
As a family, we discussed intensively on pros and cons. She spoken with her seniors in LKC and YLL.
We left the final decision to her.

She cried after letting go offer from LKC...It was a tough choice on her part, this we believed.
This week she completed her M1 in YLL. I can say, she had a really good time.

It is not just the >100yrs of history, it is the larger cohort and the so many ways and opportunities in learning.
I am not sure today, if she will remember the moment when she decided to embrace YLL instead of LKC (really charmed her).

But, I am sure that those gotten double offer within this 1-2 weeks...will face the same dilemma.
As parents, shared and encourage them to talk to seniors. Leave the decision to them...it is their 1st big decision in life.

Congratulation to ALL proud parents !!!

Could u share the reasons why your daughter choose YLL over LKC? Thanks...

Could u share the reasons why your daughter choose YLL over LKC? Thanks...[/quote]She accepted on the last day of offer's dead line, a good 2-3 weeks space for her to seek opinions from seniors in both school, some doctors she knows from internship during JC, some close relatives...

Frankly, wife and myself were skewed toward YLL...we didn't dared to impose this thought on her.
We thought it has to be her 1st big decision, made it and commit herself to the purpose and dream she had.
Either school will lead to a medical degree, that was the only thing we can be sure.

                      If need to list some reasons;
LKC is impressive, warm and welcoming throughout the tea-sessions, open house sessions, team-based learning concept, newer building in Novena, newer in everything, some thought learning there can be more fun factors.
From parents' point of view, YLL >100 history, outreach and success just too good to pass.
From daughter's finding and statements made by don't know who she spoke with...
                      1. The choice is obvious.
If not all, most who gotten double offer went to YLL...LKC waitlist move faster proven this.
(She did said this; If YLL didn't offered her, she will be more than happy to study in LKC.
That's being said, human when spoiled with choices, most will goes with the norm, perceived better one will be
                      chosen)
                      2. Partner Imperial College London stay for how long, is LKC as good without LCL?
5-6k extra fee goes to ICL, both school produce doctor, why the extra in fee, for the additional ICL print on cert?
How many can really have a chance to have learning trip to ICL, all or selected few?
                      3. LKC faculty is like no-link to other faculties on NTU campus, like by it self.
                      4. New building at Novena quite fast away, studying between 2 places like not so convenient...

I really can't say exactly what caused the change of mind in my daughter's case.
While we valued differently, tangible and intangible inclusive.
End day, important is let the son/daughter decides.
It is their path and we as parents just need to dig into THE 'Father & Mother foundation' to finance the not cheap study. HOPE...they chose to study local and stay close to the heart!

Thanks for your feedback and sharing. Also to give another perspective…

From what I know, NUS curriculum is more siong. Lots of exams and lectures to attend. From a fellow dr friend whose daughter is in M5 YLL. He said YLL tests them on the unimportant stuff that doesn’t make them a better doctor. Especially when most of the information are readily available on the hp.

YLL patient contact only comes in at year 3 while LKC clinical starts at year 1. Their team based learning approach prepares them for actual clinical setting in the future where they have to discuss in multi disciplinary teams.

LKC team based learning allows them to learn ahead on their ipad, less lectures to attend than YLL. More chill especially for year 1. Also first 2 batches of LKC graduates are already in the hospitals and feedback from other doctors have been good, they are knowledgeable with good attitudes.

LKC curriculum is developed jointly by Imperial with local educators. Some of LKC educators were ex YLL educators. So best practices of YLL is incorporated into LKC with the use of the latest equipments… very important for dr to learn the latest technology too. In the years to come, I dun think it is important whether LKC is affiliated to Imperial.
