I notice there are 2 branches where in Yishun & Orchard.Which branch is specilaise in Maths? By the way can you share how your Maths metod of teaching?
I heard some people said you are specialise in GEP Maths, Olympaid Maths etc etc. -

Both centres specialise in helping students improve their Higher Order Thinking skills using Math as our medium.
Our approach focuses on 3 elements, namely Values, Intelligence and Psychology (VIP).
Values because …
There is a Chinese saying : 人之初，性本善。性相近，习相远。, with the second phrase saying we are different because of our habits. If a child does not develop proper habits, such as listening, being responsible, disciplined and patience, he will waste time in learning. The tendency is he will not revise the work at the correct interval and will forget his learning easily.
Intelligence because …
If a child is poor in logical reasoning, chances are he will not be able to follow the lesson in the more difficult area is high. There are proper and smarter techniques in problem solving. Once a child is exposed to and understood the various techniques, he will be more resourceful (knowing more techniques) and reason more flexibly should he encounter a deadlock. Proper techniques are like a sharpened axe, it helps the child work faster because it is more effective. This can be a tremendous confidence booster because frustration is avoided. Most of our Students find our techniques logical, easy to follow and save precious time and effort. Psychology because …
If a child cannot handle the stress, he will not be able to perform at his best. He may even experience mental block in the face of difficulty. Lots of children cried during the PSLE exams due to the lack of mental toughness. Examination is a sport – A sport to outdo not only others but mainly yourself. Effective psychology preparation includes goal setting, time management, affirmation, visualization, relaxation techniques and positive self-talk. There is no short-cut.
We partner our Students’ Parents to address issues relating to our students’ VIP. Our Students’ achievements are the result of theirs and their Parents’ faith and commitment to follow through our programme and completing the required exercises. Much credit goes to our Students’ Parents for their support and follow-up actions on the home front.
We are not a fast food joint, learning takes effort and time. Our deliverable is clear - We help weak students to improve and high achievers to excel.

May I know what does the P1 Maths lesson that your centre would focus on? I’m in a dilema whether to let my child take on Maths or just Abacus.

Hi Titank,
The MOE syllabus is geared towards problem-solving, as we see increasing proportion of thinking questions that demand students’ reasoning ability. The introduction of calculator and the rationale given by MOE attest to the trend of more thinking questions.
Our P1 Math focus on building thinking skills in the various broad areas including Mathematical reasoning, Observation, Pattern Recognition, Spatial reasoning, logical reasoning and habits of the mind. The broad category extends to other higher order level logical deduction, lateral thinking, systematic thinking etc.
Specific topics include gauss method, symbol representation, Interval gap problem, number manipulation, excess shortage problem, smart guess and check, to name a few. Besides, topical issues, our lessons include use of manipulative (tower of Hanoi etc), videos, riddles, math magic, mind reading and games.
Activity Demonstration
Given 5 numbers : 5, 10, 20, 30, 40
Which 4 numbers add up to 95?
Most students would try to solve by adding up the numbers randomly by trial and error. This method can be very time consuming and tedious. It can be very prone to careless mistake as it involves too many steps.
We educate students to “Think before you act”. We recommend the smart, logical and systematic way.
As there are a total of 5 numbers, and we need to find out which 4 numbers add up to 95, it is more effective to find out which one to exclude in the sum.
As such, we add up the grand total = 5+10+20+30+40 = 105
Then we subtract 95 from 105 = 10.
Therefore, the four numbers would be all the numbers except 10.
All our lessons are infused with appropriate learning values and Habits of the Mind. Our Students’ achievements demonstrate the real and tangible benefits as resultant of their good habits. Some of our existing customers were skeptical at first and view our methodology as far-fetched. But now they are fully convinced of the value of our approach. One of the many examples, a systematic mind helps student navigate the problem clearly and concisely while a messy mind gets you nowhere.

How about for Pre-School? I have a DD where currently at Age 3.5 years old. When would be a good age to come in? -
Hi Titank,
Our current programmes cater to children from age 6 to 12. Scientific research advocates that this age range is best suited for our kind of programmes as we also believe children are most receptive to new ideas and are matured enough to understand and absorb better thinking approach. For younger children, it is good to expose them to cognitive enhancing activities like music, arts and drama.
Regardless of the type of programme, parental involvement and follow-up is essential for success. Let’s remember to play with them and ensure they do their revision.
