      Lock:
Thanks. I am actually very pleased with DD's results and thot she has done very well. Just was shocked when her teacher told me her grades were just average among her peers.

It is really very stressful to be in Hope class and my dd can feel it too. At times, she wld tell me that she prefers to be in Peace class (as like last yr) cos dun need to work soooo hard. Her form teacher did say that majority of the Hope girls are very hardworking. Hence, the stellar results.

EL marks seem to be lower across the level. In Hope, 87 and above is considered top range. Whereas for Science and Maths, 90 is considered mid-range. :!:
Ya Lock, maybe I can share with you based on actual average scores for SA1 (excluded CA1) for Maths and Science, the highest was 9X and I believe my dd was second, 9X. So can you imagine how much marks most of them are pulled down by languages, so I think languages are an very important deciding factor, must work hard on it. 😄

DD's father keeps telling me not to aim for Hope, just let her enjoy her studies. I have been thinking about it. I think if she can stay in Peace is good enough..... for I really do not want to feel so stressed. I got so stressed up during the results released time, one subject by one subject, I almost could not concentrate on my work and kept thinking about her marks and what went wrong and how many mistakes she made......I felt it was an agony.

You are right snowyqueen. Really stressed. So I just get my daughter to do her best and leave the streaming and allocation of class to the school. 🙂

It's more impt that she has an enjoyable school life. 🙂

          Hi all,

Anyone send your gal to Math enrichment class? My gal is very careless and she is nonchalant about losing marks due to carelessness. On the other hand, she is not so mathematically inclined… Am thinking of sending her to Math Hub, but she says she dislikes to go there(she went only for the 2 wk holiday class) as the questions are way too tough…(the worksheets contain questions 2 levels above their current level, beside IQ questions). Not sure whether to send her to Math Hub or any of you have other recommendation for a good math class that teaches higher order thinking skills?
          Thanks so much!

            Hi All,

I’m thinking of enrolling my DD this year for P1. How’s the school focus on academics and CCA ? I noted fr the school website that the number of classes reduces progressively from 6 in P1 to 3 in P6. Is this correct and if so is there any reason why ? Thanks !

              Hi,

How/where you got this information from the school website btw? :?
I am also thinking of enrolling, thus thanks for sharing!

                Hello Jessicat,

I saw it under the tab "Staff - Academic Staff".

Hi there, maybe I can help in explaining the difference in the number of clases.

Way before the school went into PRIME, each level had only 3 classes and the school only started opening up more classes in the recent years after the school got upgraded and expanded. So this yr's P6 will be the last batch with only 3 levels. 6 classes in P1 & P2 will shrink to 5 classes (as like in most schs)

In my opinion, the school is strong in character development and building the kids' confidence and self esteem through various activities like performing during assembly, IJ got Talent, Art Competition, Book Idol, CLIMB project etc...and giving the girls various leadership roles in class.

CCA wise, the sch is strong in the performing arts, netball and softball. Academic wise, during my daughter's P1 yr, there's already streaming and pupils are ranked into top 2 classes and the rest is mixed ability. However, this yr P1 has no streaming, students move up to P2 in the same class. Hence, I am not sure when streaming will start.

With the streaming, it seems that pupils in the top 2 classes are being 'pushed' more.

That's only my observation and opinion. 🙂

Btw, the sch website is not updated...quite poorly maintained actually. So, it will be better to find out more about the school by going to the school itself.

Thanks Lock for the great insight. The thing I like abt the school is the holistic focus of each child not just pursuing on academic solely. Would like to know more mummies out there whose child will be entering the school next year. When would the orientation be?

I've registered her under Phase 2B last week as I did PV year before. See the good and ugly side but overall I'm pleased with the school and hoping my child can graduate from there as a confident, independent and caring lady. :ugogirl:

U/s the school doesn't have exam for P1, assessment will be done on an ongoing basis. Is that right?
