It all depends on the person - nationality may not be all important.

I had only Indo maids. Both were liars - but becos the areas they lie in are not critical, so I'll choose to close one eye.

When things break under their watch, it's usually not them who did it - I have to attribute this to 'hantu'. When they clean the house, they NEVER notice anything, eg a misplaced toy. But quite strange in that when we talking about them, their eyes will dart very fast in our direction.

Fairly sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this. 😉

        Dear hquek,
Whenever I talk to my friends on the phone, my maids will hang around.
Strangely I don't understand who is the one breaking plates/bowls, misplaced toys either. Anyway, those are the days of having a maid. I don't use my Corelle bowls and plates when I had maids, now I do.

hantu...hantu....when they deny, I'll just say, ok, hantu do one. I'm fine if they admit. in fact, I never raise my voice if they tell me they were responsible.

I have a grohe showerhead ($300 plus for that miserable thing alone) in my master bathroom. Within months, the head started coming loose...but of course, she never dropped it - I didn't also and I should know. Still living with that showerhead, and anything that spoilt, I never bother to replace with quality ones....cheap ones will do.

I just find it very funny. Give instructions, they all tak tahu (dun understand). Gossip about people/her, the eyes will brighten up and ears all pricked up.

Taking all this in stride - a joke to me. Life is too short to have to mull over these.

When I packed the maid’s stuff to send back to the agency, I was furious to see all my expensive ziploc bags used to store her torn undies. She had to use the expensive ones and not the ones from value shop :x

The handle for Kaarcher vacuum cleaner is always spoilt…I gave up hope repairing. Or else the maids pulled the plug/extension out too hard. Then they will tell me, ‘mam, the vacuum cleaner spoil!’ Damn, it always happens right after I get it back from the service centre ($60 each time). I told them not to pull out the plug too much but use separate extension cable which my dad made for them. They never listen even after I showed them.

Is it good? Heard it expensive but not really that good.

Suggest you go for the smaller agencies rather than those with many branches as the owners have better control over the maid selection. I heard the owners of these smaller agencies normally will go to indonesia or phillipines to interview the maids themselves. I am currently using Goodlink Maid Agency located at Katong. My friend recommended me this agency. Just got my maid for about a week. So far so good. The agent is very strict with her maids. If you can tell her your requirements, she can shortlist some bios for you to select.

after so many years, I still rely on Raymond Maids.

in fact i only used them once every 5 or 6 years because the maids they got for me are good. no need to change until they are old to retire or they go back to get married

i am NOT advertising for them - just giving credit where it is due

they are not cheap but worth every cent of my money
