For those who are still sourcing for kids masks in prep for Term 3...I let P4 kiddo try out several types at home during past few days. His verdict?

cloth mask - too thick & suffocating

disposable mask - more breathable but traps sweat. Kid size: slightly too small, whereas adult size: ear loops fit but the rectangle piece is too large.

“Gill” brand mask - much more comfortable. Easier to breathe since no parts are pressing on the nostrils at all. The silicone rubber seal is definitely “tighter” than the disposable masks which alway had air gaps at the side/bottom. Straps are fully adjustable to fit any size head, adult or child.

ST write up about Gill mask: “Local company invents new mask to tackle global shortage; 1,000 being shipped here for sale”
      https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/coronavirus-local-company-invents-new-mask-to-tackle-global-shortage-1000-being?xtor=CS3-18&utm_source=STiPhone&utm_medium=share&utm_term=2020-05-24%2014%3A05%3A34[/quote]
I believe the easier to breathe, the lower the barrier.
Instead of trying out diff masks, better to 'practise' with what is easily available, or what you have on hand.
Put one on and use in for hours at home. Next, go for a few km of brisk walking (for heavier breathing and higher humidity accumulated on the mask).
Don't look for the easy way out.

the Gill mask looks like alien to me 😜

this covid 19 is not the "real air borne virsu" , wearing mask protection is more to protect getting direct "splashing" of droplets from a infected carrier to other people… i feel tiny/small gaps in between mask near the cheeks/nostrils should be fine in normal places …
unless one is working in a high risk envi eg hospital ,clinics then they better be fully covered & spare no gaps.

The Gill mask is too heavy to wear comfortably for extended hours. I think the most practical is still the surgical mask for wearing from 7 am to 2 pm.

I do think the Gill Mask is a great product for everyday wearing for errands etc. This is provided one doesn’t mind the aesthetics.

Everyday announce one NTUC outlet, very soon we will see one whole list of NTUC branches, from Jurong to Pasir Ris !!

Very early, we already complained that NTUC packed like sardines, almost every day like that, no social distancing, quite expected lah.

BTW, 1st wet market to be announced is one of those 4 most crowded markets that required odd/even number on your IC to enter.

It's only to be expected - supermarkets are the most-frequented places now. Chances are that there is little or no spread as contact in supermarkets is superficial and short, and everyone is masked these days. Let's wait 2 weeks and see.

I haven't encountered \"packed like sardines\" at any supermarket so far, but I choose to go on a weekday mid-afternoon. I expect that mornings are more crowded. Not sure about evenings.

I found this one, does anyone know if school can wear this? https://publicpeach.com/collections/decor-living/products/bucket-hat-with-face-shield

I am thinking that face masks would be very uncomfortable for my girls to wear in class all day, because it disrupts airflow. I don't know if you have experience with schools disallowing hats in class because I want my daughters to wear hats with face shields instead. It's more comfortable for them.
