      Hi parents!

We are so excited to share in our first trivia. its a basic definition in physical chemistry.

What is mole? 1 mole of an element is the amount that contains the same number of atoms as there are in 12.0 g of 12-C. It is equivalent to the Avogadro constant, 6.02 x 10^23 number of particles.

Tomorrow, weโ€™ll be posting a Chemistry question, which you can share to your students and maybe ask them if they know the answer and the day after, weโ€™ll be revealing the answer.

      Sounds great, right?

      Have a nice day!

        Hi Parents!

Here's our question of the day which maybe you can answer together with your secondary chemistry student.
        Answer together while learning together.

We'll be revealing the answer tomorrow. ๐Ÿ™‚

the answer to this is A..
here's the explanation, The heat supplied is gained by the gas particle in the form of kinetic energy. The particles cannot move farther part as the container is rigid.

This oneโ€™s an interesting topic to share with your kids. or maybe you can have them explain why this phenomenon happens.

Weather balloons are used in the study of the climate and atmosphere. A weather balloon filled with helium gas greatly increases in volume as it goes higher up the sky.

What is a likely reason for the expansion of the balloon as it goes higher?

            A. Increases in average kinetic energy of the helium atoms inside the balloon
            B. Decrease in rate of collisions of helium atoms on inside walls of the balloon
            C. Increase in average kinetic energy of the surrounding atmospheric gas molecules
            D. Decrease in rate of collisions of atmospheric\tgas molecules on outside walls of the balloon

              Hi parents!
I hope you had a great weekend bonding with your kids!
To stop the waiting game on the answer revelation to this question, we are giving you the answer now.

              the answer to this is...D

Explanation: A balloon expands when the gas inside it expands. This can be due to increased temperature of the gas particles inside the balloon or reduced pressure of the atmospheric particles outside the balloon. As the balloon travel upwards, the temperature of the atmosphere falls. Hence, a decrease in rate collisions of outside gas molecules will produce a lower pressure and result in the balloon expanding.

Yey! I hope this helps you two to have a good discussion about chemistry. ๐Ÿ™‚

By the way, we are grilling some question to our new Chemistry Q&A chapter

Hello Uptas, can you help me with this problem?

Group I and Group II ionic hydrides react with water:
                H-
                (s) + H2O(l) โ†’ OH-
                (aq) + H2(g)
In an experiment, 1 g samples of each of the following four ionic hydrides are
treated with an excess of water. Which sample produces the greatest mass of
                hydrogen?

just landed on this forum topic. it is really helpful for me since I have kids who really like for us to discuss a lot of chemistry topics. Iโ€™m looking forward to more of Q&As and stuffs.

Hello, hope you can help me.

When the salt (C2H5)4N +Cl- is treated with hydrogen chloride, a white ionic solid X is formed. When X is dissolved in water, a 20 cm3 sample of the solution requires 24 cm3 of 0.1 mol dm-3 NaOH for neutralisation. Another 20 cm3 sample of the solution requires 48 cm3 of 0.1 mol dm-3 AgNO3 for complete precipitation of chloride as AgCl. What do these data show the formula of the anion in X to be?

                    Thank you.

                    Amount of H+ = amount of OH- = 0.1 x 24/1000 = 0.0024 mol (in 20 cm3)
                    Amount of Cl- = 0.1 x 48/1000 = 0.0048 mol (in 20 cm3)
                    Ratio of H+ : Cl- = 0.0024 : 0.0048 = 1 : 2

1 mol of H- gives 1 mol of H2. The salt with the greatest amount of H- will therefore give the highest amount of H2.
