It's Parents' Teacher's meeting today and the girls are home! Enjoy your time!
Haha, my girl already bugged me to buy a thick thick assesstment book for her last weekend so hopefully that is enough to keep her occupied today and the rest of the Jun hols lol..
Anyway we are not attending the meeting today coz it seems quite a waste of time leh, so decided to skip it this round, save my leave too. Probably just attend the year end one will do.
Everyone else meeting teachers today? What did the teachers say about ur dds ?? -
Luanee:
I'm not attending too as I also feel we won't get much ot of the session. Initially I thought of going there to thank the MT teacher for her great job for bringning my dd MT standard up. But I'm not sure whether we will get a chance to see her or not. I will ask my dd to give her an appreciation card later on.Andaiz:

Yah I was wondering too whether would we be meeting the HMT or MT teacher during the session. Anyone attended ??

I met all 3 teachers (form teacher, Maths and EL) by going to 3 separate classrooms and waited thrice. All the teachers are \"stationed\" at the classrooms according to their form class, e.g. if I want to meet my girl's Maths teacher, I have to go and meet her at 1D classroom if she's 1D's form teacher.

Overall I found the PTM to be useful, even though I do sometimes correspond with the teachers via email. It's 1 chance in which the teachers need to make time for you and really go through the girl's progress with parents. I get to know some points about my girl (e.g. she is sometimes talking during lessons) during the recent PTM.
However, really hope that their progress report will show more peer group details rather than just absolute marks in the various subjects, as absolute marks do not mean anything in isolation..... -
Ming, in the main papers they will indicate the class and level’s highest and average scores for each subject. I guess ur girl no SA this term hence u don’t see it yet.

Hi I’m a newbie here considering sending my gal to RGPS pls bear with my questions.
1. I read that RGPS is not affiliated to Raffles Girls Secondary can anyone pls confirm?
2. Is that why RGPS is not as popular as other top schools like Nanyang Primary?
3. Can anyone explain how does affiliation works? What kind of priority students from affiliated primary sch enjoy when enrolling for secondary school?
4. Parents pls share your experience about RGPS in terms of teaching style, culture, students characteristics etc.
Thanks. -

1. Yes, RGPS is NOT affliated to RGSS.
2. I would say it is not as popular for this reason as compared to MGS and SCGS. NYPS is co-ed hence u cant compare their popularity based on afflilation only.
3. Students from affliated pri schools get to enrol in the affliated secondary schools with a lower cut-off point. Eg if non-affliated students need 260 points to go into a particular school after PSLE, then affliated students may need 250 or so. This differs among individual schools. In some cases the difference they enjoy is quite little only, I heard, like the case of NYPS to NYGH.
4. This is a subjective question haha... I cant really answer as I am not a very 'hands-on' type of parent

Yes, the main paper does indicates class's highest & average score, but not the level score though.....
Does P2 papers still indicate level score details?
Tks

I understand all government schools have no affiliation even though some shared a common history. Government aided schools like scgs, mgs. acs chij etc… are backed up by churches, clans n associations n that makes the difference.

Last year the P1 main papers indicated both class and levels' scores, not so sure why they changed it this year. And yes, the P2 ones still indicate both class and level scores. I thot u said earlier there was no SA1 for P1 this year?Luanee:
