Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) Updates

How time flies, we hv been ‘living with coronavirus’ for half a year. I am starting to get immune with the daily report of new cases.
I still read the news esp on some countries eager to open up because of economy. I was reminded of a doctor’s (from tv) advice: health and economy are two sides of a scale. If we focus much on health, the economy suffers, vice versa. -

I believe that MOH uses \"community\" to mean \"outside FW dorms\", not that they were outside their homes.
I don’t understand why the linked closed contacts of the existing cases are considered “community cases”. It’s obvious they caught it from that family member or housemate at home, not from going out to shop/commute & it spread to them from the community “out there”.
So who qualifies as a “non-community” case? Medical workers or what?[/quote] -

In Singapore, I would start the count only in March, or earliest in Feb? So only about 4 mths. I'll be glad to see some loosening up!

Yes, it's a balancing act. In societies without much aid from government etc, the poor have a choice of either risking the virus or watching their kids go hungry. Not much of a choice. -
DS and I went to visit my mum Ytd afternoon. It was tough to keep in touch with her as she doesn’t turn on her HP most of the time. Call her landline also not always at home (she insists on doing the groceries for my brother & SIL). Or she is busy cooking/looking after my niece so can’t answer.
So nice to be able to chat with her F2F. And I finally got to meet my newest 3-month old baby niece (born during this season). My mum has aged visibly but happy to see us after so long. -

Yes, pls visit your mum whenever possible. I no longer have this chance. -
I recall a few days ago I asked about the one and only community case then unlinked. Think it was an 81yo auntie. Not sure if any link has been found. Then 2 days ago another unlinked 78yo uncle. How do I check whether those recent unlinked cases have been linked up? Did they get it from family members or wet markets?
Since CNY till now, my kids have not visited my aged parents and 91yo granny (who are staying together) Because my kids take MRT home after school, I have phobia they may being the virus to my 3 old folks… -
I think I read somewhere that the 78 year old uncle was a security guard in a dormitory.
Yes I really wish we are given more information about the unlinked cases. So far it’s like we need to read and re-read and examine the news articles ourselves to glean any useful info!
From what scanty info I understand, so far main spread is to support staff working in dormitories (security guards, cleaners) and some of them are quite elderly. Then they spread to their family members or housemates.
I do not know if there’s any proven links to public transport. Where did those secondary school kids catch it from? Still not answered. -
So far the list of places visited by confirmed cases are mainly malls and supermarkets. Maybe some went there via public transport but nowhere to trace?

Oh... Not the same uncle. The dorm security guard was yesterday’s confirmed case, 72yo.

The one I read who was unlinked, was a 78yo uncle, a confirmed case on 11th June.
Yes, Cleaners mostly are old folks. Youngsters kena, usually mild or asymptomatic, old folks are vulnerable. -

Right now can split between community and dorms because there is isolation.

Once we open up, the FWs residing inside dorms start work, and take public transport to Mustafa / Little India and Chinatown / Geylang (for the Chinese), then I suppose we cannot count them separately as “Community cases“ and “FWs inside dorms anymore”. All would have been counted under daily “Community cases”.
