Application for NUS/NTU Medicine 2020/2021

I doubt it is only because of covid that LKC has delay in the process. Even YLL released offers to their waitlist so soon after the JAP closed. And I think that if there are vacancies the LKC admissions team will also want to sort out as fast as possible, and they would not have delayed so much up till now. Of course I hope this is not the case, but those are the reasons why I suspect they over offered this year as it looks like there are very few vacancies so far.
My dd asked her LKC seniors and they said LKC also does not usually take so long to process waitlist offers. As for the first batch of waitlist offers, my dd said she only heard of 2 students who got the offer. On this forum, 2 parents also posted that they received offers. Seems to be a very small batch. But I don’t think it is only those who chose YLL over LKC. Because my dd said she heard of around 10 people already from her sch who chose YLL over LKC, so the actual number must be much bigger than that. -
For waitlist of NUS/NTU medical student, you need to wait patiently, it could take very long time. Because there is NS disruption factor for boys.
This year, due to Covid-19, the NS Enlistment dates for some batches were delayed, My DS is on February Batch and he has not received any information about NS disruption. Before settle all the NS disruption matters, the hope for waitlist are going to stay. -

That's an inefficient system in today's technology standard. Even if NTU offered the course, the applicant is no longer allowed to reject the acceptance at NUS as the window date is over. What a waste of precious time and the redundancy of resources.Desmond Tang\" post_id=\"1980545\" time=\"1591965562\" user_id=\"185268:
NTU waitlist is a separate exercise from the Joint Admission Platform. NUS and NTU Medicine do not communicate so they will still offer waitlisted applicants regardless of whether they have accepted another course, including Medicine.
Hi, there is nothing wrong with the system.
Say Student A wants to study at NTU Medicine. He has gotten Confirmed Offer from NUS, and Waitlist at NTU. By 24 May, he can only choose to accept NUS on Joint Admissions Portal, but bobian cannot choose NTU.
After 24 May, if he gets the NTU confirmed offer later on, he has secured the position by his own merit (thankfully because other people rejected / pulled out, but he did it fair and square). He has the right to now choose NTU over NUS now - he just needs to inform NUS and NTU about his updated decision.
There is a misconception here that accepting NUS / NTU means you reject the other. Let me explain.
If Student A get NUS Medicine Offer and NTU Biological Science Offer (example), on JAP when he accept NUS, he is rejecting NTU Biological Science (not NTU itself). If NTU now offers him an alternative course of Medicine due to waitlist, he can choose to go NTU but like what i said, just communicate this to the universities.
Not inefficient. Student A rightfully secured both placings in both Med Schools - has the right to choose which one to go to. It is not his fault he got it after 24 May
In reference to NUS Medicine and NTU Medicine for Waitlisters - Acceptance and Rejection of offer after the 1st Acceptance Window Date May 24. I believe that there would be a clause specified in the Letter of Offer/Acceptance for those who wish to go over to either NUS or NTU if it happened that they are being offered either from NUS or NTU waitlist after the 1st Acceptance Window Date. They have to go through a channel to do a proper Rejection and Acceptance to be able to transfer over to either Medical School by the 2nd Window Date 17 June. As what seemed to be the statement explained here by NUS: -
\"The windows for 2020 acceptance are:
1st window: 2 January to 24 May 2020 (for offers released before 24 May 2020)
2nd window: 1 to 17 June 2020 (for offers released between 25 May and 17 June 2020)
Applicants who receive offer(s) within the 1st window must indicate their acceptance online by 24 May 2020.
If you wish to amend your decision after submitting your online acceptance, please log in to the Common Acceptance Platform with your date of birth, NRIC number and application number. You may submit multiple changes but only the last change received by the deadline will be considered. The University will not accept late acceptances after the deadline that is stated in the electronic offer letter.\"
Suspect that is why a 2nd Window Date was in placed to allow those who has been accepted by NUS or NTU Medicine in the 1st Acceptance Window Date to decide if they still wish to go over to either NUS or NTU from the Waitlisted Offer from either Medical School. I am getting a clearer picture now of the whole processes of hopping around but still see that it is unnecessary, unproductive and inefficient. -

The actual waitlist is not moving at this moment from both sides as the 2nd Acceptance Window Date is applicable only to those who have been accepted and then being offered again from either medical school waitlist. Only after the 2nd Window Acceptance Date has been over and the settlement of the army disruption matters will they start to process the remaining waitlist and that would be done by soonest and latest by mid July as mentioned by NTU LCKSoM.
So not to worry but be hopeful. Cheers! -

I am also puzzled about what the 2nd window is about. My daughter's friend had her YLL waitlist converted to an offer on Thur 11/6. She did not apply for LKC. So cannot be that the 2nd window is for those who were accepted by YLL/ LKC to reconsider their choice?rjksj\" post_id=\"1981092\" time=\"1592311134\" user_id=\"186146:

In any case, we can only continue to wait.... -
Hi! lunchmoney,
Reference your quotes: -

It could be NUS side has a big movement over to NTU Medicine and thus NUS was able to offer those on their waitlist. If that’s the scenario then that’s why LKCSoM was slowed down and the waitlist unable to move. -
In the last 2 years, my friends children who were on waitlist at LKC, did not get any offer in the end. So, be prepared for 2nd choice in the worst case. Both were boys.

Sorry, not trying to be discouraging to bring bad news but I noticed in previous years, very few students on waitlist get offers. So better to be realistic. Should u get the slot eventually, it will be a bonus. In this way, at least the students can move on and plan for the next course...especially if the student is a female.
