Indeed. 2 of my friends' children are in Dublin now after failing to get a place in med schools here and in UK.
Once I met a girl at apple shop. She was wearing a Dublin Medical school tshirt so I had a chat with her while waiting for our turn to be served at apple shop. She said it was chill at Dublin and she was enjoying herself. She did her A level at one of UK boarding school. Having studied in UK, she was not keen to attend local medical school so she did not apply to any local medical school.

Singapore med schools are not easy to get in. A few doctor friends send their children to overseas med schools as well. So congratulations to all with secured places. Good luck to wait listers. And there are always other med schools out there otherwise.

do you think ntu will open up more slots this yr bc of the corona virus? esp. since overseas students might want to come back.

Well, one cannot fight one's fate. Right this moment we can only put one's trust in GOD. At least it will make one feel less burdened. Hopefully GOD will bless all our children in the waitlist with LUCK, afterall we are Living Under Christ's Kindness, GOD's most beloved son. Let us all wait.

I think it is unlikely as the number is highly controlled by MOH, taking into consideration the budget, industry needs etc. MOH is aware that there will be many returning overseas students each year. MOH cannnot control the number of graduates who will return from overseas but they can control the number of doctors that they will train locally. Some overseas grads are doing 5 years course while others are doing 6 years course. Hearsay MOH has grossly cut down the number of PEG offered to overseas students, indicating they do not need so many doctors from overseas now especially since they setup LKC and Duke.

The SMC list has also been much reduced since 2 years ago?

Hearsay another round of cut will happen again... same like what they do to the overseas law schools.

The increase in intake has gradually been adjusted as per guidelines by MoH since year 2018. It has been capped at 500 (e.g. NUS + NTU + Duke), so there is no increase in intake.

MoH wants a robust Healthcare systems for Singapore. That is why they have streamlined the number of listed overseas medical schools. They have already been gradually increasing the number of intake for our local universities since 2018 and has capped it at 500 to date. We are not short of doctors in the Healthcare Workforce.
