Hi, I would like to ask for some opinions on ear extenders for face masks for young children (e.g comfortable or if they will pull at the hair or keeps sliding down etc) and if there are recommended places to buy them? Thanks.
ammonite, ear extender as in those pulling the loop away from the back of the ears ? I remember seeing it at the online platform but never go and check it out as right now alternate schooling week still bearable.

          Hello all,

As our children return to school, staying COVID-free is completely dependent on our children, teachers, and staff wearing the right type of masks, medical grade surgical masks that offer people protection when physical distancing is not possible.

However, at present, mask suppliers and opportunistic traders are supplying large quantities of masks of household-use grade to Singapore and passing them off as surgical masks of medical grade, causing less discerning consumers to purchase masks with false certifications, misleading them to believe that they are buying medical-grade surgical masks that offer them adequate protection against COVID-19.

See these videos for a quick overview:

Hi MKS, yup those for pulling loop away or tightening masks. I saw a number of options online but I am not sure how comfortable or effective they are and am hoping that some forummers might have some feedback on the different materials/effectiveness. I considered the sewn option for comfort factor but that is not as easy to disinfect as plastic or silicon and buttons may be a choking hazard for young children.

I bought some online... in my view, it was absolutely useless & a waste of money, even though they're quite cheap. One of the worst buys during this circuit breaker, on par with the face shields (but that's another story - caused by the miscommunication on whether they can or cannot be used).

Although the advertisements usually state that the extenders are adjustable, they can still get loose and slip and will eventually become looser even after being tightened initially.

Additionally, it slips down the back of the head - so the ear loops of the masks now dig into the top part of the ear instead of the back of the ear.

There are surgical masks with strings that you can tie behind your head. That’s one alternative to the ear loop kind. It’s a bit more difficult if the child has to take off mask for recess & then tie it back himself/herself after eating though.

ammonite if your issue is mask too big or loose, you may consider twisting the loop before put it over the kids ears

Bought 2 cheap shields to try and daughter said ok to use.
So I ordered 2 better quality ones and then the news of the changed policy came out that very night.
Luckily could still cancel the 2nd order - otherwise would have wasted even more.
